K\u00fct\u00fcphanecili\u011fin \u00fcniversite d\u00fczeyinde verilmesiyle meslek olarak kabul edilmesi sa\u011flanm\u0131\u015f ve k\u00fct\u00fcphanecilik \u00fclkemizde bilimsel niteli\u011fe kavu\u015fmu\u015ftur. K\u00fct\u00fcphanecilik Enstit\u00fcs\u00fc 1964 y\u0131l\u0131nda K\u00fct\u00fcphanecilik B\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fc ad\u0131n\u0131 alm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. 1989-1990 \u00f6\u011fretim y\u0131l\u0131nda Dok\u00fcmantasyon-Enformasyon ile Ar\u015fivcilik Anabilim Dallar\u0131 olu\u015fturulmu\u015f, b\u00f6ylelikle K\u00fct\u00fcphanecilik de d\u00e2hil olmak \u00fczere \u00fc\u00e7 Anabilim Dal\u0131, b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcn b\u00fcnyesinde yer alm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Y\u00fcksek \u00d6\u011fretim Kurulu\u2019nun karar\u0131 ile yeni ad\u0131 \u201cBilgi ve Belge Y\u00f6netimi B\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fc\u201d olan b\u00f6l\u00fcm, 2002-2003 \u00f6\u011fretim y\u0131l\u0131ndan itibaren b\u00f6l\u00fcm d\u00fczeyinde ve e\u015fit a\u011f\u0131rl\u0131kl\u0131 puan t\u00fcr\u00fcne g\u00f6re \u00f6\u011frenci al\u0131nmaya ba\u015flanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.
