World leaders met at the UN headquarters in New York on 25-27 September, 2015, and they accepted Sustainable Development Goals to eradicate poverty and to ensure the common welfare of humanity in the world by 2030.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in other words Global Goals, is a universal call to action to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people live in peace and prosperity.
These 17 goals are built on the success of the Millennium Development Goals; and it also includes new areas such as climate change, economic inequality, innovation, sustainable consumption, peace and justice among other priorities. Objectives are integrated; the key to be successful in a goal is to address issues that they have common problems with each other.
The Sustainable Development Goals came into effect in January 2016 and will guide UNDP policy and fund for the following 15 years.
Atatürk University has aligned its educational, research and social contribution missions with the Senate Resolution 128 dated 18.12.2019 according to the Sustainable Development Objectives of the United Nations. In this context, the digital design of the processes was made and published via The Official Web page of Atatürk University The activities of Atatürk University related to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations can be seen through the prepared portal.
Furthermore, the preference of success zone of Atatürk University is prioritized according to the five goals of the United Nations ' Sustainable Development: good health and well-being, quality education, affordable and clean energy, life on land and partnerships for the goals. Other focus areas and strategies of Atatürk University are also aligned to support these five areas.
