2 What are the Minimum and Maximum Duration of Doctoral Education (Thesis Delivery Time)?
The duration of the doctoral education (thesis submission time) is the beginning of the 8th semester at the earliest and the end of the 12th semester at the latest.

3 How to Appoint a Consultant?
The appointment of a consultant is made with the recommendation of the Departments and the decision of the Institute Administrative Board.

4 What is the procedure to be followed for the appointment of a Joint Advisor?
In cases where the nature of the thesis work requires more than one thesis advisor, the second thesis advisor to be appointed with the proposal of the relevant department/major arts branch may also be a person who has at least a doctorate degree from another higher education institution in Turkey or abroad, other than university staff (see Practice Principles). item: 9/2). The proposal of the department and the institute are decided by the board of directors.

5 What Should Be Done for a Consultant Change?
The letter of the department is sent to the institute along with the advisor and/or student petition and the advisor change form. It is done by the decision of the institute board of directors.

6 In Which Circumstances and When Can a Registration Freeze Request Be Made?
Applications to freeze registration are made within the first 10 working days of the semester, provided that they have registered for courses (see Atatürk University Graduate Education and Training Regulation, article: 19).

8 In which cases is the deregistration process carried out in doctoral education?
Student;
A. When he/she does not successfully complete the courses he/she has taken within the maximum period
B. Does not deliver or fails to deliver the seminar by the deadline
C. In the event that he/she does not take the proficiency exam until the end of the 5th semester at the latest (if the student does not take the proficiency exam within the prescribed period, he/she is considered unsuccessful) and/or fails in the 5th semester and/or fails the proficiency exam in the 6th semester.
D. Failed the proficiency exam 2 times in a row
E. When failing to report TIC twice or three times intermittently and/or fail TIC reports
F. When he does not submit his thesis within the maximum time limit

Deregistration is done by the decision of the Institute Administrative Board.

9 When is the Completion of the Doctoral Courses and the Deadline for the Seminar?
Doctoral courses and seminar must be completed at the end of the 4th semester at the latest.

10 What is the Status of Those Who Haven't Completed Their Courses in the Maximum Time According to the Regulation?
Students who fail to complete their courses at the end of the 4th semester will be deregistered.

11 How Long Should the Seminar Work Be Delivered?
Before the proficiency exam, the seminar must be successfully delivered to the institute.

12 What is the Minimum Credit Amount Required to be Taken in the Course Period?
The minimum number of credits required is 21.

13 The Ways to be Followed in the Seminar Delivery?
Seminar work must be uploaded to Postgraduate Activities by the student.

14 What is a compulsory course? What are the compulsory courses of the program studied?
The courses that must be taken and succeeded are called "Compulsory Courses". "Research Management and Ethics" in graduate and doctorate programs of our institute, and "Project Preparation" course is required to be taken as a compulsory course for doctoral students as of 2020-2021 spring semester.

15 What are the Conditions for Application for the Proficiency Exam, the Way to be Followed and the Forms to be Filled?
In order for the candidate to take the proficiency exam, he/she must have successfully completed the minimum course load and delivered his/her seminar. As of 2021, the Proficiency Exam will be held via OBS.

16 When are the First and Last Entrance Periods for the Proficiency Exam?
The student can take the proficiency exam after completing the minimum credit amount and submitting the seminar. The proficiency exam is taken within the 5th semester at the latest.

17 How long is the right to take the Proficiency Exam?
There are 2 entries for the proficiency exam.

18 What is the Situation of the Student Who Couldn't Pass the Proficiency Exam in Time?

19 What is the way to be followed after the proficiency exam and what are the forms to be filled?
After the proficiency exam, the following forms are filled and sent to the institute through the department.

20 How Long Can a Thesis Topic Suggestion Be Given?
It is given after the proficiency exam is successfully completed and the thesis monitoring committee is formed.

21How is the Thesis Monitoring Committee (TIC) Formed?
For those who are successful in the proficiency exam, the thesis monitoring committee (TİK) is formed within one month upon the recommendation of the department and the approval of the institute board of directors (see UE Article 21(1).

22 What is the way to be followed in the Thesis Topic Proposal and the Forms to be Filled?
The student determines the thesis topic together with the advisor, makes a presentation to the Thesis Monitoring Committee (TIC), the presentation record, Ethics Committee Approval, Thesis Topic Proposal Template and Thesis Proposal must be sent through the Department or Graduate Activities, together with the Ethics Notification and Plagiarism Declaration Form.

23 In Which Periods Are TIC Reports Given?
Thesis monitoring committee reports are submitted twice a year (January-June, July-December).

24 If the maximum number of TICs is not given, the student's registration will be deleted.
In cases where the thesis monitoring committee reports are not given 2 times in a row or 3 times intermittently, or if these reports are considered unsuccessful, the student is dismissed from the institute.

25. How Many TICs Should a Student Have to Submit the Thesis?
After the thesis proposal is accepted, at least 3 successful thesis monitoring committee reports must be prepared.

26 How many ECTS in total should a student have in order to submit a thesis?
The student must have a total of 240 ECTS in order to submit the thesis.

27 What is the Path to Be Followed in the Beginning Stage of the Thesis Defense?
Before the thesis defense, the following forms are filled and delivered to the institute through the department. After the decision of the institute board of directors, the student is taken to the thesis defense on the specified date.

28 What is the way to be followed in the thesis submission and what are the forms to be filled?
The student who is successful in the thesis defense fills out the forms below and submits them to the institute with the thesis.

29 What are the forms that should be included in the thesis work?

30 What are the documents that the student will submit to the Institute for the Ph.D. Graduation process?
1. The thesis must be shown to the institute to check its compliance with prepress writing rules.
2. Thesis cover is obtained from the institute
3. The Thesis Data Entry Form is produced from YÖK National Thesis Center and 1 signed printout is delivered to the institute.

5. After the defense, the thesis submission declaration form should be signed by the jury members.

6. A total of 7 hardcover theses, including 1 to the institute, 5 to the advisors and jury members, and 1 to the student (8 hardcover theses in case of the 2nd advisor), should be printed and submitted to the institute and the signature approval of the Institute Director should be obtained.
7. A thesis written on a CD (saved in PDF format) is delivered to the Institute.
The CD will contain 1 file (the whole thesis).
