The Department of Sculpture at Ataturk University was founded in order to educate creative, observant, inquisitive and productive artist candidates who can contribute to the fields of modern art and design. In the Department academic activities are carried out eight academic personnel among whom there are a Professor, four Dr. Teaching Member, a Lecturer, two Research Assistants. 

The Department program has a modern approach which supports individual creativity. The program provides many options for its students in the transfer of basic knowledge required for becoming a sculpture artist with the help of workshop activities and the theoretical classes and applications that support the workshop activities. In the first year of the program, the students improve their creativity, expression and composition skills with Basic Art Education, Design and Pattern, Modeling, Technical Drawing and Perspective classes. Starting from the second year, the students continue to work on their projects in the sculpting workshops. The art of sculpting uses materials such as clay, stone, metal and wood, and the size of the sculptures vary from lockets to monuments. In this pursuit the students working in the workshops complement their works by taking theoretical and applied courses such as Sculpting Technology, Basic Architecture, Artworks Analysis, Photography, Aesthetics and Art Philosophy and Modern Art Interpretation. 

Career opportunities for the graduates of this program are spread on a wide spectrum. Students can choose their academic paths on becoming environmental designers, medallion and jewelry designers, decorators, art consultants, art instructors of selective art courses in higher education institutions, or academic staff in the research and education institutions related to Fine Arts. 

This program also offers Master of Arts degree in Sculpting.
