At this main academic branch of arts in the Department, applied and theoretical courses such as İllimination Design, Old Turkish, Miniature, Book Arts, Interior Design and Restoration, and Calligraphic Art are offered. The curriculum is reinforced by Turkish Art History and Modern Artistic Interpretation courses. The program also allows its students to select courses from other art disciplines in the Department such as Porcelain and Calligraphy, and thus enables them to become knowledgeable in such arts and make designs. The graduates can work freelance or as art consultants in public and private sector, as restaurateurs in libraries and museums, calligraphers or book binding masters and as designers or experts in textile, porcelain and carpet factories. Those who choose to remain in the academic field can find employment opportunities in the universities or colleges as instructors of selective art courses or as academic personnel in higher education institutions.
