Establishment


Atatürk University Faculty of Theology started education in 1971-1972 under the name of Faculty of Islamic Sciences and was renamed Faculty of Theology in 1982.

Our faculty is located in the campus of Atatürk University, located at the western entrance of the city, in a position that is intertwined with academic and administrative units, student dormitories and social facilities, and does not have transportation problems due to its proximity to the city center.
Our faculty has a rich academic staff with 28 professors, 25 associate professors, 14 assistant professors, 3 lecturers, 4 lecturers, 2 research assistants, and 1 specialist, as of 2009-2010 academic year.

Our Aim and Mission

Our faculty was established in order to nurture the national and spiritual feelings of our nation and to enlighten our nation with the solid principles of our universal religion, and to train personal and cultured religious scholars.
The establishment goals and duties of our faculty include training staff who work hand in hand with their nation, who are working, producing, sensitive to art, country, and world problems, and integrating our nation.
Our graduate students can take part in various levels of public institutions and organizations, mainly the Religious Affairs Directorate.

Our Physical Structure and Education and Training Units

In our faculty, students study through the methods required by the modern world. Our students are studying in 25 classrooms and study rooms, some of which are equipped with projectors.

There are two laboratories in our faculty, one of which is a foreign language and the other is a computer.

our Library

There is a library with approximately 32,000 volumes in our faculty. In our library, there are numerous theses that have not been published yet, besides works and periodicals related to almost every field, mainly Theology, some of which are manuscripts. Although there are mostly Turkish, Arabic, Persian and Ottoman language works, there are also various works written in foreign languages.
Our library, which has a reading room capacity of 70 people, applies a closed shelf system for our readers other than our faculty members and serves all readers who apply.

Our Social and Sports Activities

In our faculty's 180-seat conference hall; conference, panel, symposium etc. academic studies are carried out. In addition, we have a meeting room where seminars are held every week and the Faculty Academic Board meets.

Our faculty has a student canteen designed to meet the resting needs of our students.

There is a gym and table tennis hall for the sports activities of its students.

Our Cultural Activities

In our faculty, the Student Council and the Wise Theologians and Culture and Art Communities, which provide services to the students of the Faculty in the social and cultural field, continue their studies.
