COMMEMORATION MESSAGE OF KHOJALY MARTYRS FROM RECTOR ÇOMAKLI
Ataturk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı released a message on the anniversary of the Khojaly Massacre. In his message, Rector Çomaklı said that:
In these days when we once again witness the destructive and despairing effect of wars, we commemorate the people who were martyred in their sleep, some in their homes and some in a cold forest, without finding an enemy to fight against, even after years, with the same pain and the same grief in our hearts.
In addition to the common denominator of being human, we commemorate the 30th anniversary of the martyrdom of 613 civilians and innocent people Armenians in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, our dear brother, and condemn the massacre of innocents wherever they are in the world.
Time does not make one forget the pain, does not legitimize the persecution, does not cover it up. Time only offers the possibilities of remembering, not forgetting, questioning, and preventing the same suffering.
Even though it has been 30 years, Khojaly is our bleeding wound, our common pain. With these feelings, we wish God's mercy on our 613 compatriots who were martyred there that night.❞
