SCIENTIFIC CONTRIBUTION TO DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL PRODUCTION

Domestic Probiotics Introduced

Patents and registration applications of domestic and national probiotics produced in Atatürk University laboratories were made.

Led by the Faculty of Agriculture lecturer Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dikbaş; the science team consisting of Dr. Kağan Tolga Cinisli, doctoral student Merve Şenol Kotan and postgraduate students Sevda Uçar and Emre Canca visited the Rector of Ataturk University Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı to share the details of their studies.

Stating  that probiotics which were found to have a positive effect on human health when consumed can be prescribed as disease regulator ,Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dikbaş stated that these products used as dietary supplement  are generally imported therefore they set out to serve the interests of the country and eventually produced domestic and national probiotics.

5 Domestic  Probiotics Will Be Used In Healthcare, Cosmetics, Agriculture And Livestock  Sectors

Stating that probiotics are beneficial microorganisms isolated from natural sources, Dikbaş emphasized that it has positive effects against many problems such as digestive  system regulation, strengthening the immune system, heart diseases and diarrhea.

Prof. Dr. Dikbaş shared the information that probiotics are not medicine but dietary supplement and added “We applied for patent and registration for the probiotics produced in Agricultural Biotechnology Laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture. Many formulations have been developed for placing on the market as a commercial product. Approval processes of the products started in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Health.

We will soon introduce 5 different products as dietary supplement tablets for humans,  acne-removing cream in the cosmetics industry, and feed additives for bees,  cattle and sheep and goats in the agricultural sector. On this occasion, on behalf of myself and my team I would like to thank our Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı whose support we always feel and who keeps our motivation alive.

“We Will Continue to  Support Domestic Production”

Stating that these and similar studies are very important in terms of contributing to domestic production and emphasizing the importance of natural dietary supplements, the Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı reminded that they, as a university, launched initiative to produce domestic medicine recently and thus ,they both transformed academic knowledge into a product and realized another study that is suitable for the social contribution mission.

Rector Çomaklı stated that under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the domestic and national medicine production initiative launched in the Turkish pharmaceutical industry has started to come to fruition and added that as Atatürk University, they carried out studies in accordance with this initiative and received their feedback in a very short period of time.

Rector Çomaklı stated that they ,as a university, will provide all kinds of support to probiotics of which patents and registration applications have begun and that they wish to support  domestic production of these beneficial microorganisms by establishing a fabricated infrastructure for mass production and sales.
