THE IMPORTANCE OF TECHNOLOGY WAS EMPHASISED AT THE ‘CAREER 4.0 FROM THE YOUNG PEOPLE'S PERSPECTIVE’ MEETING

Hosted by Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University; Atatürk University, Karadeniz Technical University, Izmir Institute of Technology, Kayseri University, Mardin Artuklu University, Sakarya University and Civil Life Association in partnership with Atatürk University, Karadeniz Technical University, Izmir Institute of Technology, Kayseri University, Mardin Artuklu University, Sakarya University and Civil Life Association, coordinated by Hatay Mustafa Kemal University and financed by the Turkish National Agency of the Directorate for EU Affairs, ‘Career 4.0 Summit Meeting from the Eyes of Young People’ was successfully held.

The summit, which was organised to address the effects of the technological transformation on the business world on a global scale, to guide the career planning of young people and to evaluate the opportunities and limitations they may encounter in the digitalisation process, started with intense participation at the 100th Year Cultural Centre located in Hacı Bayram Veli University Beşevler Campus. This summit, where the outputs of the meetings held in seven regions of Turkey were evaluated, offered important suggestions to the participants for the career world of the future.

The summit was attended by Prof. Dr. M. Naci Bostancı, Rector of Hacı Bayram Veli University, Prof. Dr. Veysel Eren, Rector of Hatay Mustafa Kemal University, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Çuvalcı, Rector of Karadeniz Technical University, Prof. Dr. Yüksel Göktaş, Vice Rector of Atatürk University, Prof. Dr. Canan Varlıklı, Advisor to the Rector of Izmir Institute of Technology, Prof. Dr. Canan Varlıklı, Vice Rector of Mardin Artuklu University, Prof. Dr. Reşit Yıldız, Vice Rector of Sakarya Artuklu University. In addition to many scientists such as Prof. Dr. Reşit Yıldız and Sakarya University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Halit Yaşar, Eastern Anatolia Region Project Co-Coordinator and Atatürk University Student Dean's Office Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meral Oltulu, Presidential Human Resources Office, ministry representatives, institution managers, project coordinators and students participated.

The Concrete Outputs Obtained Will Shed Light on the Career Journeys of Young People

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. M. Naci Bostancı, Rector of Hacı Bayram Veli University, emphasised the aspects of technology that make life easier and stated that it is important how individuals develop their own skills and abilities in this process. Drawing attention to the importance of human reasoning and morality in the relationship with technology, Prof. Dr. Bostancı concluded his speech by thanking those who contributed to the project.

Prof. Dr. Yüksel Göktaş, Vice Rector of Atatürk University, described the project as a valuable opportunity for university youth to develop their vision for the future. Prof. Dr. Göktaş stated that the impact of technological transformations on the business world shed light on the skills that young people need in career planning processes and emphasised the importance of continuing such projects that will contribute to the academic and social development of young people.

Within the scope of the summit, plaques were presented to the representatives of the stakeholder universities, while the tangible outputs and policy recommendations were presented to the Presidential Human Resources Office and relevant ministries. These recommendations are expected to contribute to the career planning and adaptation processes of young people in Turkey to the business world.

The ‘Career 4.0 through the Eyes of Young People’ Project is an important guide for young people to shape their career journeys more consciously and keep up with technological changes.
