In order to enhance the quality of healthcare services, significant initiatives were conducted at Atatürk University Research Hospital. The Emergency Department was expanded to include a new area, the number of cash desks was increased to facilitate patient transactions, and the Pregnancy School, which was established as part of the Obstetrics Department, was opened. Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu attended the programs.
At the programs, Rector Hacımüftüoğlu was accompanied by the Chief Physician of the Research Hospital, Prof. Dr. Bilgehan Erkut, the Rector's Advisor, Prof. Dr. Erol Akpınar, the General Secretary, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ufuk Okkay, as well as assistant chief physicians, department directors, unit managers, and a multitude of doctors.
The advent of the "Blue Area" era in the emergency department
Atatürk University Research Hospital, a healthcare institution that is among the most comprehensive in the region, is committed to the development of new facilities to accommodate the changing requirements of its patients. The Emergency Department has been expanded to include a new section known as the "Blue Area" as part of this endeavour. This new area has enhanced the capacity and efficacy of the Emergency Department, which presently offers services in green, yellow, and red areas.
There is an expectation that the Blue Area, which will increase the bed capacity in the Emergency Department by 50% with 12 beds, will reduce the intensity in the Emergency Department and facilitate quicker and healthier intervention in critical cases. During the inauguration ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu emphasised that the top priority is to enhance the quality of healthcare services. He stated, "Our university hospital is a significant treatment centre that serves not only Erzurum but also the region and neighbouring countries." We are cognisant of this obligation. This new arrangement in the emergency department is fostering a safer service environment and facilitating quicker intervention. The Blue Zone is a critical component of our efforts to enhance the calibre of our services.
Citizens are now more easily able to navigate the procedures.
As part of the program, Rector Hacımüftüoğlu also visited the newly reorganised cashier area. The area, which was previously occupied by three cashiers and is situated on the first floor of the hospital, has been expanded to accommodate eight cashiers as a result of the work that was completed. This expansion has eliminated the waiting time that patients previously encountered during payment procedures. Rector Hacımüftüoğlu observed that the new arrangement not only expedites the process but also prevents the formation of masses in front of the intensive care unit and provides citizens with a space to meet their requirements through the newly organised canteen.
‘We are striving to enhance the contentment of all individuals who utilise our services. This arrangement is the outcome of a methodology that prioritises the well-being of both patients and their families. According to Hacımüftüoğlu, "Every quality-focused step is extremely valuable to us." He also stated that they will persist in their efforts without abandoning their citizen-centric service approach.
Maternity School Commences Operations
The 'Maternity School,' which will be integrated into the Obstetrics Department, was inaugurated during the concluding segment of the inauguration program. The Maternity School was established with the objective of fostering a healthy childbirth, educating expectant mothers during pregnancy, and fortifying the bond between mother and infant postpartum.
"The foundation of healthy generations lies in conscious mothers," Rector Hacımüftüoğlu stated, emphasising that the university consistently endorses health initiatives that benefit society. Our objective with the Maternity School is to equip mothers with the necessary psychological and physiological skills to prepare for childbirth. We are of the opinion that these practices are of paramount importance in the context of public health.
Appointment with the Deputy Chief Physician
Rector Hacımüftüoğlu also visited Dr. Ozan Kuduban, who was recently appointed to the position of Deputy Chief Physician, as part of the inauguration program and extended his best wishes for success in his new position. Rector Hacımüftüoğlu emphasised that the success of healthcare institutions is directly influenced by institutional solidarity and merit-based task distribution. He also stated that a culture of collaboration will enhance the hospital's value.
