IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF THE 21ST CENTURY, TURKISH HISTORIOGRAPHY WAS DISCUSSED AT ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY
Atatürk University hosted the workshop "Turkish Historiography in the First Quarter of the 21st Century: Current Issues and Solution Proposals," which was jointly organised by Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University and Atatürk University.
A workshop was conducted at the Nene Hatun Cultural Centre, which was attended by Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, Prof. Dr. Alparslan Ceylan, Rector of Manas University of Kyrgyzstan-Turkey, and academicians and students.
Prof. Dr. Alparslan Ceylan, the Rector of Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University, expressed his satisfaction with the opportunity to participate in a collaborative scientific project with Atatürk University, of which he is also a member, and to contribute to the deep-rooted history between the two countries during the workshop's opening. The event was attended by approximately 100 scientists from universities throughout Turkey.
Prof. Dr. Ceylan stated that "our own national resources and national historical perspective should be our basic starting point when writing history" and employed the following expressions: "Every Turkish youth should definitely read the Göktürk inscriptions while learning history." The inscriptions impart a valuable historical lesson that spans from the past to the future. History is the most effective educator, as Ziya Pasha once stated. Emphasising that history has always been the most effective educator and teacher, it is impossible for any individual to be entirely self-sufficient from their teaching workstation. Our esteemed academics will present scientific data today that will illuminate the future and guide the paths of our students, young scientists, and you. I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, the workshop organisation committee, and all participants who contributed to the workshop on this occasion.
"Atatürk University's 70 years of academic experience have contributed to the accumulation of knowledge and the development of its city, region, and country."
Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu began his speech by stating, "These valuable studies, which are conducted to accurately transmit our own history to future generations, are celebrated by universities, particularly our University, in a variety of events and pave the way for the future." He further stated that Atatürk University has contributed knowledge and experience to its city, region, and country through its 70 years of academic experience.
Rector Hacımüftüoğlu: "Our objective is to capture the future by drawing inspiration from the research conducted by our esteemed historian professors and to impart the appropriate information, production models, new concepts, and understanding to the next generation." In this regard, our primary objective in the domains that we can define with categorical codes and algorithms, such as education, research, and societal contribution, is to pioneer new territory in the field of higher education in Turkey and the world, and to explore new horizons. Our primary source of inspiration is our own history and the historical figures associated with it, as we plan all of these components within the context of our strategic objectives. It is a blessing that the five thousand years of Turkish history are replete with historical figures and champions. By beginning with their experiences, we can labour, produce, and succeed. We are currently in the process of accomplishing a novel endeavour as a University. Diverse viewpoints will emerge in response to the contemporary challenges in Turkish history and the novel solutions that will be proposed. The public will be provided with the fundamental knowledge. I would like to express my gratitude to the Workshop Organisation Committee and you, our esteemed participants, for the opportunity to convene our esteemed historians on such a significant day.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, the Rector, delivered the presentation of the gift book in honour of Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan following the inaugural addresses.
