HAPPY APRIL 23 NATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY AND CHILDREN'S DAY
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, the Rector of Atatürk University, released a message in honour of the opening anniversary of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and April 23, National Sovereignty and Children's Day. The following phrases were used by Rector Hacımüftüoğlu in his message:
❝With great enthusiasm and pride, we, as a nation, commemorate the 105th anniversary of the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, which was established under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Additionally, we celebrate the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, which was presented to all international children.
This day is not only a declaration of our national sovereignty, but it is also the most unique expression of the value placed on children and the trust that is felt, as it is etched in history. Children are the most pristine embodiments of humanity, hope, and harmony, as they are the future of a nation.
Unfortunately, the inhumane assaults in Gaza this year, as in many other regions of the world, are shattering our hearts. The struggle of Palestinian children to maintain a life under the shadow of war is making our holiday pleasure bittersweet. We once more assert that all children of the world have the right to live in peace. We aspire to a future in which solidarity, justice, and conscience prevail, a world free of wars, suffering, and sorrow.
At Atatürk University, we recognise our obligation to cultivate generations that grow up speaking the language of peace, are enlightened by science, and act with conscience. With this understanding, we will persist in our efforts to ensure that our offspring inhabit a world that is more equitable, tranquil, and aesthetically pleasing.
I sincerely congratulate all the children of our country and the world on April 23, National Sovereignty and Children's Day, and I remember all our martyrs and veterans with mercy and gratitude, particularly the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.❞
