Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı published a message on the occasion of October 29 Republic Day. Rector Çomaklı made the following statements in his message:

“Republic Day is the embodiment of the national struggle that was fought for years in poverty and conditions of impossibilities collectively by people from all segments of society, including children,and of the victory in the end. Today is the anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his brothers-in-arms, saying "either independence or death" and reaching out from captivity to the republic and freedom.

We proudly celebrate October 29 Republic Day, which is the most visible form of resisting all kinds of oppression and captivity, believing in one's own strength and nation, fighting and succeeding, and we wish God's mercy on our martyrs who gave us our independence at the expense of their lives.
