Atatürk University

A CONTRIBUTION TO ACADEMIC VISIBILITY BY THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

Aside from its impact in the national arena, Atatürk University continues to play a significant role in the creation of worldwide scientific publications in the world's major publishers and journals.

Organic Letters, one of the top four journals in the field of Organic Chemistry, published by the American Chemical Society, featured a research article addressed to the Chemistry Department of Atatürk University's Faculty of Science on its cover.

Using selectflor as an oxidant and tetrabutylammonium bromide/chloride salts as a halogen source, Ziya Dağalan, Ramazan Koçak, Arif Daştan, and Bilal Nişancı achieved the quantitative halogenation of alkenes, alkynes, and natural products in their article. The developed approach is the first halogenation process without the usage of metals or halogen molecules.
