RESEARCH UNIVERSITY ACADEMIC CONSULTATION MEETING HELD
Atatürk University convened a significant academic consultation meeting with the esteemed participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu. The meeting, which convened in the Prof. Dr. Kemal Bıyıkoğlu Hall of the Cultural Center, featured participation from vice rectors, deans, directors, and vices.
At the commencement of the meeting, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çavuşoğlu delivered a comprehensive presentation regarding the parameters defining Research Universities. During his presentation, he elucidated the implications of the new duties and responsibilities established as a consequence of the discussions held with the Council of Higher Education on the university's research capacity.
Rector Hacımüftüoğlu remarked: “It is within our capacity to ascend to the pinnacle of the Research University Category.”
Initiating his address by asserting that these processes ought to be managed proficiently through deans and directors, Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu indicated that strategic plans have been formulated for the year 2025, wherein academic personnel and various supporting components would collaborate within the framework of these plans. He underscored the necessity of completing the final two months of 2024 with diligent effort, and concurrently highlighted the benefits associated with being classified within the Research Universities category.
Articulating that such advantages would facilitate increased recognition of the university on both national and international stages, Rector Hacımüftüoğlu asserted that the responsibility to ascend in the category encompassing Research Universities lies within the purview of the universities themselves, and he noted that the successes attained through dedicated efforts would be positively reflected in the university's ranking.

Prof. Dr. Hacımüftüoğlu articulated that numerous criteria govern the ranking of Research Universities, encompassing elements such as research capacity, interaction and cooperation, publication frequency, citation rates, and the number of publications, projects, and patents. He also addressed the significance of executing contracts for approved projects, finalizing patent applications, and motivating academic staff to participate in the Erasmus program. Rector Hacımüftüoğlu, who accentuated the importance of recruiting successful scientists who have garnered recognition in the international arena on a contractual basis, stated that Atatürk University would be positioned to compete robustly with global universities through this initiative.
In conclusion, Hacımüftüoğlu, who affirmed that success would be attained through collaborative and dedicated efforts, reiterated his conviction that they would exert the necessary endeavors to unveil the potential of Atatürk University and contribute more significantly to the nation’s higher education landscape.
