ATA ICE MUSEUM BRINGS ITS NEW EXHIBITION TO ART LOVERS

Ata Ice Museum, Turkey's only ice museum and established within the scope of the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project, opened its second exhibition themed Republic and Child.

Ata Ice Museum, which held its first exhibition with works with the theme of July 15, opened the doors of its second exhibition with the exhibition "Republic and Child", prepared by a team of 15 people after a work lasting approximately 3 months. Welcoming its guests at minus 10 degrees Celsius, the Ata Ice Museum exhibits the Portraits of Atatürk and Nenehatun, the Huma Bird and various other items for children, sculptures and the map of Turkey prepared by the Atatürk University Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) by processing ice blocks, and offers a visual feast with sound, light and smoke shows.

Ata Ice Museum Coordinator and Head of GSF Sculpture Department Prof. Dr. Mustafa Bulat stated that they wanted to reflect the cultural and historical wealth of Erzurum with works of ice, and for this they chose people and places that are important for the city. He made the following remarks: “We wish to carry the legacy of the ancient city of Erzurum to the national and international arena, to contribute to tourism activities, to invite foreign artists and interact with each other through workshops. In this direction, we organize various events both in the foyer area of our museum and in our well-equipped ice museum, and we continue to host our guests. We welcome all our citizens with their families to our Republic and Child themed exhibition, which was prepared in this context.”

Rector Çomaklı: “Our Museum Has Become a Part of Social Life”

Stating that the Ata Ice Museum, which Atatürk University opened with the mission of supporting art and artists, and which has brought together art lovers since then, Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, on the other hand, said that there are 8 ice making machines, 16 ice molding machines and an exhibition area of 400 square meters in the museum, which allows sculptures to be made from ice at 10 degrees below zero for 12 months. Stating that the Ata Ice Museum, which is of great importance for the students of the Faculty of Fine Arts to receive education and perform artistic activities, is among the attraction centers of the city: He also noted: “Our Ata Ice Museum, which has become a part of both educational activities and social life, is opening its doors to its guests again with the Republic and Child themed exhibition.  I invite all art lovers to this beautiful exhibition, which includes many meaningful works.”

Ata Ice Museum, which welcomes its guests free of charge, will keep its doors open for 2 months.
