The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR), a global ranking of research-oriented institutions published by SCImago Laboratories in partnership with Elsevier; 2022 results have been announced. Accordingly, Atatürk University succeeded in being among the top 500 universities in the world in 11 fields.

According to the 2022 rankings, Atatürk University; A world university with outstanding success in 11 fields: Veterinary, Dentistry, Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacy, Economics, Econometrics and Finance, Engineering, Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry, Environment, Agriculture and Biology, Arts and Humanities and Earth and Planetary Sciences. ranked in the top 500.

In the ranking, which includes 8 thousand academic and research-oriented institutions worldwide, 4 thousand 364 of which are higher education institutions, 132 universities from Turkey succeeded in being listed. According to the 2022 ranking results, which are grouped under three different categories (research, innovation and social impact) and published using a methodology consisting of 17 indicators, Atatürk University; While it rose from 725th to 647th place in the general category in the world ranking, compared to the previous year, it showed a great success by rising from the 15th to the 9th place in the Turkey ranking. In the category of research quality, it rose from 8th to 6th in Turkey.

Rector Çomaklı, who stated that Atatürk University, which occupies the top positions in the reports published by many respected ranking institutions, in which universities are evaluated according to various criteria, has maintained this success by being included in the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2022 list: to be in the top 500 in more areas in the coming period. In the following period, we plan to rise further in the general rankings," he said.

Rector Çomaklı emphasized that they achieved the success of ranking 500th in 11 fields in the list "as Atatürk University family": "Success is not only today's success, but also a result shaped by the steps taken as a result of 65 years of history, scientific and academic culture. This rise will continue in the future. "The trend will continue upwards. As a university, we will strive for this," he said.

SCImago Institutions Rankings Evaluate Institutions Based on Information from International Databases

In its annual report, SCImago lists not only universities but also academic and research-oriented institutions around the world classified in five sectors (health, government, corporate, university and non-profit institutions). The SCImago Institutions Rankings is considered one of the most objective rankings, as it evaluates institutions based on information from international databases.

Together with the league table, which was first published by SCImago in 2021, the quarters of the institutions are announced by comparing them according to the general indicator, research factor, innovation factor and social impact factor in their countries. Atatürk University was in the Q1 category in the 2022 ranking, as it was last year.
