ATATURK UNIVERSITY FAMILY COMMEMORATED THEIR HEROIC ANCESTORS IN MALAZGIRT
The family of Atatürk University took part in the Malazgirt Victory celebrations marking its 953rd anniversary. Together with the group, the rector, prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, travelled from Erzurum to Muş.
With tremendous excitement, people celebrated the 953rd anniversary of the Malazgirt Victory, which altered the course of global history, transformed the destiny of the Turkish country, and is considered one of the most magnificent victories in history in terms of its outcomes. On August 26, 1071, people gathered at the region where Sultan Alparslan and his army's extraordinary bravery and heroism lay the groundwork for a great civilisation. They were kind and appreciative to those who masterminded this historic triumph.
President Erdoğan spoke at the Celebration Program held in Malazgirt National Park, stating that they were together again on the anniversary of the Malazgirt Victory, in the fortunate lands that saw one of the major turning moments of history.
President Erdoğan said, "One Friday morning, against the sky, 54 thousand soldiers in Malazgirt composed the most beautiful anthem: Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar" and said, "We are in Malazgirt again today with the faith of that day, the courage of that day, the dedication of that day that inspired these verses."
"Malazgirt is the victory of unity and unity against oppression," said President Erdoğan, emphasising that the Malazgirt triumph is one of the epics of the nation's thousands of years of unity and solidarity as well as its stance against oppressors and tyranny. While riding his horse, Sultan Alparslan said to his warriors, precisely 953 years ago, "Let this white dress be my shroud if I am martyred." I have committed my whole being to Allah. Being a martyr and a winner are wonderful things to me. In the event that we triumph, the future is ours. With the Malazgirt Victory 953 years ago, that great sultan symbolically announced that the future will be ours."
President Erdoğan: "The Spirit of Malazgirt, together with Turkey, is flowing as a Cascade of Faith in the Turkish and Islamic World"
Declaring that on August 26, 1071, Sultan Alparslan and his army defeated an enemy four times larger than them with the help of Allah, President Erdoğan said: "We established our Anatolian Seljuk state in Iznik, which was our first state in these lands, only four years after the victory, and we continue to make Anatolia our homeland and keep it as our homeland for nearly a thousand years." Even after 953 years have gone, the Turkish and Islamic worlds still feel the spirit of Malazgirt and Turkey flowing through them like a waterfall of faith. As long as the slimy ground below does not split and the blue sky above does not collapse, this spirit will, God willing, remain around our hearts till the end of time. Every citizen of our country will always have the same values, ideals, sensibility, and beliefs as the martyrs and veterans on Malazgirt Square. May God continue to guide us along the brave martyr's road."
Rector Hacımüftüoğlu: "Our University will always pioneer to keep alive such milestones in the history of the Turkish nation"
In his assessment of the Malazgirt Victory, Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu expressed the pleasure to be a part of such an important program with the university's academic and administrative team. The Malazgirt Victory, as Rector Hacımüftüoğlu emphasised, was a victory that set the course for the Turkish nation: "We have been able to feel the spirit of our nation again by remembering this great victory that our ancestors won 953 years ago with their courage and coming together again in these lands." In addition to being an accomplishment, Sultan Alparslan's actions marked the start of a great civilisation and let our country's doors open to Anatolia. We remember with compassion all of our heroes who have given their lives for our countries in the past and today on this important day, and we are reminded once again of our primary duty to preserve their priceless memory."
"Our university, with its deep-rooted history and commitment to national values, will always lead the way to keep alive such turning points in the history of the Turkish nation," said Hacımüftüoğlu, expressing his satisfaction that the academic and administrative staff of Atatürk University took part in such a historic event.
