The Sultan Alparslan has entrusted us with the protection of these lands until our last drop of blood. Manzikert is an exceptional victory. We stepped foot in Anatolia thanks to Manzikert. We've been here since a very long time ago. This victory inflicted the greatest blow to the Crusaders by ensuring the establishment of the Seljuk state in Anatolia. This is the exit that will lead us to tremendous triumphs. The spiritual heritage witnessed by Manzikert holds a special position in our hearts."
Rector Çomaklı: "Manzikert is a Unique Victory"
Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, rector of Atatürk University, expressed his happiness and pride in commemorating the 952nd anniversary of the Malazgirt Victory. "Manzikert Victory is a unique victory that we are all proud of, where the glorious Turkish history moved to Anatolia and these territories became a home for our beloved nation. Manzikert, August 26, 1071, was a significant turning point in the Islamization of Anatolia, as the Turkish army under the command of the Great Commander Sultan Alparslan defeated the Byzantine army, which was superior to it in terms of numbers and weaponry, and opened the gates of Anatolia to the Turks, thereby making Anatolia the eternal homeland of the ancestors." finished his remarks saying "We are excited and proud to celebrate the 952nd anniversary of his victory."
Rector Çomaklı pointed out that with this great victory, which will ensure that Anatolia will remain the Turkish Homeland forever, our ancestors' centuries-long struggle for existence has spread to 4 continents and turned into a great empire. He added: "These territories are now registered as our ancestral homeland for all time with the Victory of Manzikert, which opened the doors of Anatolia to our Saint Nation, full of historical heroism. With these emotions, we commemorate all our martyrs, especially Sultan Alparslan and his blessed soldiers, who opened the doors of these lands to us, with respect and mercy, and our veterans with gratitude. I congratulate all our people on the August 26 Malazgirt Victory with my most heartfelt feelings."
