Atatürk University, which was founded in 1957 with the aspiration of becoming the first university in the East and is now nearing the conclusion of its 67th year of educational endeavors, welcomed the spring semester on the first day with its distinguished faculty and enthusiastic students.

With the 'New Generation University' vision that it has initiated on the path to becoming a leading brand on the national and international stage, Atatürk University, which opened its doors to the world with the intention of disseminating ideas and knowledge and the ideal of raising modern generations, is making resolute strides toward the future with its commitment to lifelong learning while maintaining academic and ethical standards. With tens of thousands of alumni, well-equipped infrastructure, research centers, and thousands of field-expert academics, Atatürk University, a colossal scientific hub renowned for its scientific and cultural heritage, has established a precedent for excellence by being designated a Research University by the Council of Higher Education (YOK). It was elevated an additional notch to the A2 category.

The New Generation University Design and Transformation Project, initiated in 2018 as a visionary endeavor to establish a fresh trajectory for the institution while maintaining its adherence to tradition, conducting research in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and attaining a competitive standing among global universities, is predicated on the advancements it introduces. As of 2024, the Academic Staff count has escalated from 1,417 in 2018 (555 professors, 249 associate professors, 613 assist. professors) to 1,598 (647 professors, 363 associate professors, 588 assist. professors). The occupancy rate of all programs at Atatürk University experienced a significant increase from 82.82 percent on the aforementioned date to 99.78 percent in 2023. As a result of this process, which led to another increase in enrollment, the total number of pupils rose from 69,222 in 2017 to 72,888 in 2023.

Atatürk University, which is highly significant in the context of the internationalization vision and fosters intercultural interaction, has experienced a substantial surge in the enrollment of international students. As of the end of 2023, the number of international students has increased by 284 percent, from 2,387 in 2017 to 9,164 in 2023. The total number of graduate students at Atatürk University was 38 thousand 903 in 2017, reflecting a discernible increase.
