ATATURK UNIVERSITY WRESTLING TEAM BECAME TURKISH CHAMPION IN FREESTYLE A CLASS
Atatürk University emerged as the Turkish Champion by excelling in the Freestyle A Class Competitions at the Interuniversity Wrestling Turkey Championship, which was conducted by the Turkish University Sports Federation in Karaman from May 15-18, 2025.
Although numerous university teams from across the nation participated in the championship, Atatürk University athletes emerged victorious by accumulating 160 points in the team ranking as a result of their individual classifications.
The following is a ranking of the Atatürk University athletes who emerged victorious in the freestyle competitions: 79 kilogrammes: Okan Tahtacı was the first place finisher at 70 kg, while Mehmet Çelik was the second place finisher at 74 kg. Emre Tahtacı was the second place finisher at 57 kg, and Rahman Bulut was the third place finisher at 86 kg. Berkan Çalışkan was the third place finisher at 92 kg, Ömer Kaya was the third place finisher at 97 kg, Muhammet Emin Hançer was the third place finisher at 125 kg, and Mehmet Akif Yazıcıoğlu was the third place finisher at 125 kg.
Atatürk University achieved the title of Turkish Champion and ascended to the summit of the team classification as a consequence of these results. The Atatürk University Wrestling Team garnered significant rankings as both an individual and a team, showcasing their exceptional performance in the championship, which was attended by numerous universities from across the nation. This achievement, which was the outcome of the athletes' determination, the instructors' unwavering commitment, and the university's investments in its sports infrastructure, once again serves as evidence of Atatürk University's prominence in the realm of sports.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, the Rector of Atatürk University, extended his congratulations to the wrestling team and all those who contributed to this impressive outcome. He also stated, "As a university, we continue to distinguish ourselves not only through our academic accomplishments but also through our proficiency in various disciplines, including sports and the arts." Our wrestling team's achievement of the Turkish Championship is a tangible demonstration of the discipline, unity, and solidarity that are embodied by Atatürk University. I hope that our athletes achieve success in Greco-Roman type competitions. Our university's Sports Club and Faculty of Sports Sciences, as well as all of our sections, continue to strive for a vibrant and active campus. The Greco-Roman Style Wrestling Competitions, which comprise the second stage of the championship, will persist through May 18. Athletes from Atatürk University will compete in this category with the objective of achieving the title of champions.
