BARRIER-FREE UNIVERSITY FLAGS CONTINUE TO WAVE ON ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

Atatürk University's faculty and vocational school administrators, who were deemed worthy of 12 awards at the Barrier-Free University Flag Awards and Barrier-Free University Program Award ceremony organized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), visited  Rector Prof. Dr.  Ömer Çomaklı.

Faculty of Communication, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Law, which were deemed worthy of the award as a result of the determination of the studies carried out to ensure the full, effective and equal participation of disabled individuals within the borders of the university campus.  Horasan Vocational School, Oltu Vocational School and School of Foreign Languages managers presented their awards to Rector Çomaklı and shared their happiness.

Atatürk University units, which received the Accessibility in Space, (Orange Flag), Accessibility in Education, (Green Flag) and Accessibility in Socio-Cultural Activities (Blue Flag) categories and the Barrier-Free Program Order, were awarded 10 Orange Flags, 1 Green Flag and Barrier-Free Program Order.

Rector Çomaklı, who stated that the awards received by Atatürk University units in various categories were pleasing, said that they aim to create a barrier-free campus with the works carried out.

“Our University Stands With Our Disabled Brothers With Its Love and Affection”

Rector Çomaklı stated that important steps have been taken as a university for disabled individuals to be included in society, and they have been rewarded with the flag awards: "Atatürk University only removes physical obstacles, designs its campuses, social facilities and educational buildings without obstacles, enables disabled individuals to live on campus. It stands by our disabled brothers and sisters, not only by making it accessible and developing technologies for them, but also by its humane stance, sincerity, love and affection. We consider it the most sacred duty to care for our disabled people. We constantly communicate with our NGOs working in this field and strive to respond immediately to all needs.”

“We are becoming an increasingly accessible campus”

Stating that removing the obstacles in front of the dreams of disabled people is their primary goal, Çomaklı said: “Each of our units continues to work for barrier-free learning and unhindered access. I would also like to thank our Disabled, Elderly and Veteran Research and Excellence Application and Research Center, which has been working hard in this context. We are becoming an increasingly accessible campus. This climate makes us very happy. Today, our Higher Education Council (YÖK) awarded our units with 12 awards. I congratulate all my colleagues who contributed. From now on, we will continue to work on accessibility without interruption. Everything is for a more livable campus”.
