ATATURK UNIVERSITY IS PREPARING FOR THE INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION PROCESS

A field visit will be conducted at Atatürk University from May 25–28, 2025, as part of the Institutional Accreditation Program (KAP) administered by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK). In order to address the university's activities in the areas of leadership and governance, quality assurance system, education-training, research and development, and social contribution with a comprehensive approach, each entity is expected to make meticulous preparations.

Introduction meetings were conducted between the university administration and the evaluation team during the preliminary visit, which was conducted online on May 16, 2025, as part of the KAP evaluation procedure. The general structure of the institution and the quality assurance system were the subjects of presentations during these meetings. Furthermore, the Evaluation Team Head, Prof. Dr. Hakan Atılgan, oversaw the meticulous planning of the field visit.

Numerous meetings will be conducted during the field visit.

Academic evaluators, administrative evaluators, and student evaluators from various universities comprise the Evaluation Team. Various aspects of the university will be evaluated by Prof. Dr. Elif Öğüt, Prof. Dr. Metin Bedir, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Şahbaz, Prof. Dr. Zait Burak Aktuğ, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selva Staub, Faculty Secretary Ali Çobanlı, and student representative Oktay Kafdağlı in this context.

One-on-one interviews will be conducted with unit administrators, academic and administrative staff representatives, student representatives, and external stakeholders during the field visit. To ensure the successful completion of the evaluation process, all units must prepare their work within the PUKÖ (Plan – Do – Check – Take Action) cycle and submit the pertinent documents in a comprehensive and accessible manner.

This is a critical milestone in the quality journey of universities: institutional accreditation.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, the Rector of Atatürk University, evaluated the process and stated that institutional accreditation is a critical milestone in the quality journey of universities. He also stated that quality assurance is one of the most significant factors that enhances the competitiveness of higher education institutions on both a national and international scale. Every day, we at Atatürk University strive to renew and fortify ourselves in accordance with our scientific productivity, societal contribution, and sustainable development objective. We perceive the evaluation process to be conducted within the Institutional Accreditation Program as an opportunity to refresh our institutional memory and reinforce our strategic steps for the future. I am grateful to all academic and administrative personnel who have assisted in this endeavour.
