After Ataturk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı was appointed to the post of rector for the second term, he designated Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çelebi, as the vice-chancellor. An academic member of the Faculty of Letters Prof. Dr. Turgut Göğebakan filled in the postion following Çelebi's retirement.

Receiving his guests in the office of the rector, Çomaklı stated that they organized a dinner program as the university administration for former vice-chancellor Çelebi's retirement, a faculty member of the Faculty of Medicine, expressing their gratitude to çelebi for his outstanding service.

Rector Çomaklı: “We are getting closer to our goals by working in unity and solidarity”

"Continuing its development in accordance with the foreseen targets with its academic and administrative units, academic organization, education and research centers and social facilities, Atatürk University takes its place among the respected higher education institutions of our country at the present stage and takes a step towards its goal every day with its mission, vision and values." Çomaklı said, adding that in this process, the outstanding efforts of both the former and current management team have played a decisive role in the successes achieved.

Expressing his gratitude for working with Çelebi, Rector Çomaklı thanked him for his efforts and successful management, and said that they will continue to benefit from his knowledge and experience from now on. One of the faculty members of the German Language and Literature Department of the Faculty of Letters Turgut Göğebakan has assumed the position. Çomaklı wished success to Turgut Gogebakan, pointing out that they will continue to work for the success of Atatürk University in unity and solidarity.

“Offices Change, it is the Institutions and Friendships that Remain,"

Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çelebi stated that he worked at many levels of Atatürk University, a prominent institution for the country's higher education and one of the most rooted universities in our country. He made the following remarks:  "I am proud and happy to be retiring by finally serving as the Vice-Chancellor to an institution that has such a historical mission. I wholeheartedly believe that Gökebakan will provide important services for the university."  Expressing his gratification for handing over the task to Göğebakan, Çelebi wished him success. Çelebi asked for the blessing of all university members in the presence of Rector Çomaklı, underlining that the offices will change and that the only thing remaining is institutions and friendships. He also stated that he will continue to be at the service of Atatürk University from now on.

“Moving Forward Together for Better, More Beautiful…”

Taking over the task, Prof. Dr. Turgut Gogebakan, on the other hand, stated that he will take Çelebi's successful term of office as an example and maintain the existing atmosphere of unity and solidarity working to perform his duty properly. He also pointed out that the work in institutions is, in a sense, a kind of a relay race, adding that “In this relay race, our professor hands over the flag to me. Dear Professor! thank you for your contribution so far. I am absolutely sure that you will not refrain to support our works in the future. I'll take the opportunity to thank Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, giving me a seat in his administration and his senior administrators. We will continue our efforts together to reach the better, the more beautiful and the more perfect.”
