According to the decision published in the Official Gazette dated 14 August 2020 and signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı was appointed as the rector of Atatürk university.

Expressing his satisfaction with the decision, Rector Çomaklı thanked President of the Republic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President of the Higher Education Council (YÖK) Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç, all his colleagues, members of Atatürk University and everyone who supported him.

Stating that he is proud to be appointed as the Rector of Atatürk University, which is located in Erzurum, the city of history and culture and celebrates its 63rd anniversary, Prof. Dr. Çomaklı underlined that the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project, which they started the day they took office in line with the vision of New YÖK, will continue in the future.

Stating that they are planning the next 4 years of the university, Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer said “I would like to thank all our academic and administrative staff, students and graduates who took part in the senate, board of directors, search conferences, board, commission and working group teams in the studies carried out between 2016-2020. We are working hard to bring our university to a position to compete with world universities. In this process, we have signed many works together with all our members. In the new period, we will continue to serve Atatürk University in unity and solidarity ”.
