IDLIB STATEMENT BY ATATURK UNIVERSITY SENATE

Ataturk University Senate released a statement about the "Idlib Attack".

Senate decision number 28 which was taken in session 4 on  28.02.2020 is as follows:

The issues we have for a long time about the southern borders of our country and the determined and honourable attitude we have in the face of these issues are not the problem of cultural values that begin to lose their values and have become meaningless today, but an issue of existence and of maintaining our national existence.

Besides the valid concerns related the national and border security, the operations we have performed in Syria which was an important integral part of both the Great Seljuk and Ottoman Empire in the thousand year old  “ history of Turkey” is Turkey’s right of defence announcement to whole world. This operation is directed towards building peace in the region and removing “discord corridors” that would pose a threat to the continuity of our state. These operations, which are also an attribution to the friendly relationship that goes from far in the past  with the people of the region have shown that our army which we have carried from the glorious pages of history to present stands as an original struggle symbol rather than imported security umbrellas.

As Ataturk University Family, this is important in terms of showing both the honourable, determined and valid attitude of our country towards the developments in our region and indicating the depth of Turkey's place in the history of this region.

We know that our  state and our glorious army have all capability. Yesterday, we were shocked by the news that tore our hearts. Our consolation is our infinite belief that our glorious army will give the necessary answer.

We are stating that we are at our country’s service with all of our beings and facilities. We wish Allah's mercy on our martyrs who gave their lives for the sake of our country ;and patience to their relatives and our nation and wish our veterans a quick recovery.

We extend our condolences to our nation.
