THE SENATE OF ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY RELEASED A CONDEMNATION MESSAGE.

The Atatürk University Senate has issued a condemnation message in response to the heinous assault on the martyred Hamas (Islamic Resistance Movement) Political Bureau Leader Ismail Haniyeh.

The following statements were made in the decision made at the session numbered 19 on 02.08.2024.

"We are saddened to learn that Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Political Bureau of Hamas (Islamic Resistance Movement) and the leader of the Palestinian resistance movement in Gaza, was killed in an attack at his residence in Tehran at 2:00 a.m. on the night of the presidential election in Iran. Haniyeh, who martyred his four sons, four grandchildren, and sister in the Gaza conflict, was attending the swearing-in ceremony of Masoud Pezeshkian.

The international community is obligated to take immediate action and implement preventive and punitive interventions in response to the systematic extermination of an oppressed people, which has been observed and remained mute. We urge the international community to assume its responsibilities and implement the requisite measures to stop the repeated attacks and violations of the sovereignty of states against the nefarious act, which poses a threat to the stability of the region.

As Atatürk University strongly condemn and object to this despicable attack, which is clearly understood to aim to disrupt the just resistance of Gaza and the struggle of our Palestinian brothers and sisters, as well as to spread the war in Gaza to a regional dimension by encroaching on the territory of another country. We wish mercy from Allah Almighty to Ismail Haniye, who was martyred in the attack, and condolences and patience to his family members, the Palestinian people, and the Islamic world.
