HISTORICAL DECISION FROM ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY SENATE: ALL ASSOCIATE AND UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS UPDATED

Within the scope of the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project, within the framework of the Education Excellence Model project, the updating of the curriculum, which started in 2021, was completed in order to meet the current needs of the education programs carried out at Atatürk University and to gain the competencies expected from the graduates in working life.

The implementation of the update work, which includes approximately 250 programs, in the 2022-2023 academic year. It was accepted by the University Senate and chaired by Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı.

New Curriculums Will Be Implemented From 2022-2023 Academic Year

Within the scope of the update work, institutional integrity was ensured among the curricula on the basis of succession and integration in all associate, undergraduate and graduate education programs. In addition, the current students were adjusted to the updated curriculum that will be implemented from the 2022-2023 academic year.

Update studies were carried out according to YÖKAK's Evaluation Criteria

"Atatürk University Curriculum Development, Monitoring and Evaluation Guide" was prepared, taking into account the evaluation criteria specified in the Internal Evaluation Report Preparation Guide of the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) in order to guide the updating process of the curriculum. Thus, program development, monitoring and evaluation processes were designed with the dimensions of “Plan-Do-Check-Act (PUKÖ)”. Thanks to the guide, standardization was achieved in the formal structure of the teaching plans and the program course codes.

Compulsory Course Credits Decreased

Compulsory course credits in all programs have been reduced in order to allow an educational environment focused on research and social contribution. Atatürk University, which quickly adapted to the remote execution of education processes during the pandemic period, also included distance education courses to a certain extent in its updated curriculum in order to maintain the achievements achieved during this period and to increase the digitalization competence of the students.

Number of Elective Courses Increased

While the courses were handled in four groups as common compulsory, compulsory, elective and university elective, the elective course rates were increased in all programs, thus enabling students to develop themselves in line with their interests. In addition, University Elective Courses were created to support the cultural, sportive, artistic and social development of students as well as their scientific development.

"Our Studies Are Continuing For Our Students To Get The Best Education"

Making a statement on the subject, Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı said that efforts are underway to ensure that Atatürk University students receive a higher quality education in accordance with today's conditions and new decisions have been taken in this direction.

Rector Çomaklı wished that the decisions taken would benefit all students and university members, and thanked the Associate Degree Undergraduate Education Coordinatorship and the Program Development Decision and Coordination Board members for carrying out the studies meticulously.
