ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY ADDED A NEW ONE TO NGO MEETINGS
Atatürk University, which has established a strong communication bridge with the city's administrators and NGO association and foundation representatives within the framework of the cooperation with the community, held its 9th NGO meeting in this context. 200 non-governmental organizations participated in the 9th of the University-NGO meetings, which continued and became traditional under the leadership of Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı. In addition to Atatürk .university Rector prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı and Erzurum Head of Civil Society Platform A. Mustafa Güven, vice rectors, faculty deans, research and application center managers, office coordinators and members of the press, and NGO representatives attended the meeting held in Guest House 2. At the meeting where the studies and projects designed within the university were explained, the participants shared their opinions and wishes, their expectations from the university and their ideas about the development of the city.
43 Priority Projects were Determined within the Scope of New Generation University Vision Making the opening speech of the meeting, Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı stated that the role of universities has changed and expanded within the framework of the "New YÖK Vision" initiated under the auspices of the Presidency and led by the Head of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç. Stating that the mission of integration with society was added to education, research and development, Çomaklı emphasized that a total integration was achieved by opening the doors of Atatürk University to everyone. Rector Çomaklı shared the steps taken within the scope of the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project with his guests and said that within the scope of the project that completed its third year, 29 units were established, many passive units were activated and units with deficiencies were restructured. In this 3-year period, he stated that they held 19 call conferences, with a team of 200 people from outside the organization, and a team of 1000 people from within the institution, and that 43 projects were determined within this scope, Prpf. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı stated that they organized the Future Search Conference of Erzurum, which was of great importance for the city in December. Rector Çomaklı stated that they shared the 49 project titles that emerged in this conference with the representatives participating in the NGO meeting and stated that they will report the points given to the priority areas and send them to the concerned.
“We are a Family with High Energy and Entrepreneurial Spirit” In this regard, Rector Ömer Çomaklı said that they achieved concrete outputs with the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project: “We have a complete ecosystem, application and research centers where we have made significant breakthroughs in society, and we have a strong academic staff with our young people with high energy and entrepreneurial spirit. We have everything necessary to develop projects and collaborate, and in this sense, it is our duty as a university to collaborate and support projects. We will develop projects that will further develop our country, region and city by collaborating with Civil Society Organizations in the future. ”
“New Generation University Project Caused Excitement in the City” Stating that they are pleased about the traditionalization of these meetings where mutual expectations and demands are spoken, Erzurum Civil Society Platform President A. Mustafa Güvenli said that they continue their research on what can be done about the University-NGO cooperation, what can be the project incentives, the project production process and the road maps to be followed during the project development stages. Stating that the New Generation University project caused excitement in the city, Güvenli stated that the results of Erzurum's Future Search Conference held in this framework will contribute to the development of the city. Stating that the establishment of commissions according to their fields of work, non-governmental organizations is very important for an effective cooperation, President Güven thanked Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı for his sensitivity in this matter and wished that the 9th NGO Meeting would be beneficial. The meeting ended after the questions, opinions, suggestions, and wishes directed by the participants were presented.
