ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY AND GEORGIA UNIVERSITIES STRENGTHEN THEIR RELATIONSHIP

Atatürk University continues its collaborations for internationalization, which is one of the most important outputs of the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project, which is prepared and implemented in accordance with the vision of YÖK.

In this context, Foreign Relations Office Coordinator Prof. Dr. Taşkın Öztaş, Director of the Institute of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Elif Çadırcı, Faculty Member of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Zekai Halıcı, Deputy Chief Physician of the Research Hospital Prof. Dr. Akın Erdal and Erasmus+ Program Manager Lecturer Pınar Uçak took place in the visiting delegation to Georgia under the chairmanship of Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı.

Within the scope of Atatürk University's Internationalization Strategy, the delegation, which held Erasmus+ coordination meetings with higher education institutions in Tbilisi, Georgia, within the scope of the Erasmus+ Program carried out by the Foreign Relations Office Coordinator, signed protocols that include new agreements on education and research, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations between the university and higher education institutions in Tbilisi.

The delegation had meetings with the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Business and Technology University, the Erasmus program partner of Atatürk University, Tbilisi Medical Academy, Ilya State University, Ivana Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Georgian University and Tbilisi State Medical University, and then visited the Turkish Embassy in Tbilisi, sharing information on cooperation issues.

"Both Health Policies and Developments in Health are Very Important for This Region"

Rector Çomaklı stated that Atatürk University has made a significant progress in terms of recognition and visibility in the scientific field, especially with the studies it has done in recent years, and that this has provided an important gain on the way to becoming a world university.

Rector Çomaklı stated that as a university, they attach great importance to relations with Georgia and that they care about opening up to the Caucasus and Central Asia especially in the field of health education, emphasizing that such educational agreements will reinforce the friendship between societies.

“Health comes first in the needs of this region. Both health policies and developments in health are very important for this region. As Atatürk University, we also have very successful joint ventures in health and education cooperation. Today, we are here to strengthen our cooperation as an educational institution that has proven itself both in Türkiye and in the international arena. We signed protocols with many universities that include joint scientific publications and research projects, joint scientific activities (symposiums, congresses, etc.), joint training programs, and exchange of academic staff and students. I would like to thank the esteemed administrators and related units of the universities who hosted us and took mutual steps to strengthen the relations, and I wish the agreements to be beneficial.” Çomaklı added.

The visits ended with goodwill wishes and the invitation of the Georgian delegation to Erzurum.
