ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY CONTINUES INTERNATIONAL PUBLICATIONS
Assoc. Dr. Bekir Gürbulak's Article Published in the International Journal of Science
At Atatürk University, which has made a name for itself with the projects and studies carried out in the national and international arena, the studies of the faculty members who contributed to the achievements continue to be published in world-renowned science journals.
In this context, an academic member of Atatürk University Faculty of Science, Physics Department Assoc. Dr. Bekir Gürbulak and Prof. Dr. Songül Duman from Erzurum Technical University Faculty of Science Basic Sciences carried out a multidisciplinary study. The article titled “Improving the Efficiency of Gallium Telluride for Photocatalysis, Electrocatalysis and Chemical Sensing Through Defects Engineering and Interfacing with its Native Oxide” was published in a scientific journal “Advanced Functional Materials” with an effect value of 19,925 and Q.
The article, which was prepared with the contributions of many researchers from Italy, Romania, the Czech Republic and the People's Republic of China, was appreciated by the international scientific community. Stating that Gallium Tellurium (GaTe) semiconductor, which is important in the production of photonic and optoelectronic devices, was modified in the Crystal Growth Research Laboratory of the Physics Department of Atatürk University, and grown with the Bridgmann-Stockbarger technique, Assoc. Dr. Bekir Gürbulak said that the spontaneous surface oxidation of GaTe was observed with the use of highly sensitive spectroscopic and microscopic devices.
Stating that a new one has been added to the number of publications with the study on renewable energy sources, Gürbulak said: “Based on the findings we have obtained as a result of the research, Ga2O3/GaTe, which is cheaper than the platinum-based catalysts used in catalytic water separation techniques, where hydrogen is produced, which is important among renewable energy sources, we can suggest the use of the heterostructure as a catalyst. I would like to thank everyone who contributed, especially rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı facilitating our work with the support he gave."
