ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY TO MANAGE ITS ASSETS WITH LABSIS

The Laboratory Inventory and Quality Management System (LABSİS), established at Atatürk University, allows all laboratory assets within the university to be viewed and managed through a single panel.

Being an important part of the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project, Laboratory Inventory and Quality Management System ((LABSIS) has been launched to carry out all processes and procedures in the laboratory in the best possible way and organize them in a workable structure in order to achieve the highest level of accuracy and reliability.

LABSIS, which includes many modules from inventory registration processes to request processes, from laboratory processes to user processes, from revolving fund processes to quality management system, offers researchers a user-friendly panel to allow them to know about laboratory assets.

This system includes ensuring accuracy and reliability along the workflow path, keeping the staff motivated as it encompasses many aspects of management and oversight, choosing the right equipment, setting up the installation right, making sure that new equipment works properly, and having a maintenance system.

Stating that they have put the LABSIS model into practice in order to bring all their units to international standards and to manage the assets of the University efficiently and correctly, Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı said that they want to successfully manage assets  from the model and type of the devices to the registration of the existing devices, from the processing of the used material entries to the system, and to the follow-up of the maintenance-repair process.

Rector Çomaklı: “With LABSİS, the efficiency and effectiveness of the laboratory will increase”

Rector Çomaklı said that a well-managed laboratory should have a system for inventory maintenance and purchase, adding that thanks to the LABSIS model, the appropriate amount of consumables and reagents are always available, keeping the planning and monitoring process under control in order to prevent waste, and implementing an inventory management system. He also stressed the vital importance of this step taken in terms of determining the personnel who will be given responsibility for the laboratory program. “Analyzing the needs of the laboratory and creating the minimum stock required for an appropriate period are among the sine qua non for scientific studies. The efficiency and effectiveness of the laboratory will grow with LABSIS, which allows operations such as the acceptance procedure, examination and storage of materials through the system. Because the uninterrupted flow of the needed materials will be ensured, the missing materials will be supplied or the surplus device or material detected in another unit will be transferred to any unit where it is needed. In this way, we will manage our assets correctly and efficiently.” Çomaklı said.

"Anyone registered in the Laboratory Inventory and Quality Management System (LABSİS) can use the laboratories of the university for their scientific studies. I wish it to be beneficial for our city, the region and the whole country. I sincerely believe that many scientific studies will be carried out in our laboratories based on this model, which was produced in accordance with the needs of the age.”
