COMMENCEMENT OF THE ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY VII NATIONAL PHARMACY STUDENT CONGRESS

FARMAKON 2023 VII, organized by students of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Atatürk University started. The inaugural session of the National Pharmacy Student Congress was conducted at the Performing Arts Center of the Faculty of Fine Arts.

Professor Rector Ömer Çomaklı attended the congress in the company of the students. Furthermore, in addition to Çomaklı, attendees included Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Zafer Aynalı, the President Specialist of the 13th Region Erzurum Chamber of Pharmacists, Pharmac. Abdullah Caner Güven, faculty deans, academics, students, , Vice Rectors, and Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Yücel Kadıoğlu. Additionally, there were representatives from the pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors, individuals and institutions that provide services to the sector.

The seventh iteration of the FARMAKON National Pharmacy Student Congress, which has been conducted biennially since 2010 and this year marked its seventh iteration, bringing pharmacy experts from all over Turkey to the Faculty of Pharmacy to exchange ideas with students who have a future in the field of pharmacy in our nation.

"Our faculty conducts educational activities in accordance with the National Pharmacy Core Education Program."

Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Yücel Kadıoğlu presided over the program's congress. During his address at the inauguration ceremony, Kadıoğlu expressed his delight at being the host of this significant congress and emphasized the criticality of the gathering of pharmacy experts and students to exchange ideas.

Kadıoğlu asserted that the Faculty of Pharmacy has a 26-year history, emphasizing that it is the eighth faculty of pharmacy to be established in Turkey following the first seven faculties of pharmacy in 1997. Furthermore, in 2022, our faculty, which was ranked among the top 10 accredited faculties of pharmacy in 2015, was granted a second six-year accreditation. Our faculty conducts educational activities in accordance with the National Pharmacy Core Education Program, which has been approved by YÖK and developed by the Deans of Pharmacy Faculties.

"It is my conviction that the presentations scheduled for our congress, which will cover topics such as the most recent advancements in pharmacy as a scientific discipline, pharmacist-patient relations, drug production, and technology, will significantly benefit the attendees. "I would like to thank the university's senior management, especially Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı who has offered us innumerable pieces of assistance ever since we commenced congress activities." he said.

In an effort to bring together the industry's foremost authorities, academicians, and pertinent stakeholders, FARMAKON 2023 VII will address contemporary issues in the field of pharmacy. As he expressed his delight at inaugurating the National Pharmacy Student Congress, Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı predicted that the occasion would encompass significant matters within the domain of pharmacy through the dissemination of a vast array of expertise and knowledge to attendees.

"By coordinating a variety of workshop activities throughout the congress, we intend to furnish students with practical knowledge in a variety of fields. Nonetheless, the congress also seeks to acquaint participants with Erzurum's abundant cultural and touristic assets. Students gather at universities to discover, generate, and exchange information. This congress provides an outstanding forum for you, the youthful researchers, to accomplish this objective. Your pharmacy-related research projects, innovations, and concepts possess the capacity to contribute to the betterment of our global community. In this congress, you, as future leaders, entrepreneurs, and scientists, will impart your expertise and experiences while being continually inspired. Congress is taking a significant step toward determining the future today." said Çomaklı.

"Within our ranks are youthful individuals endowed with the aptitude to provide resolutions to numerous challenges spanning the ages of pharmacy and health. This congress serves as a platform for the demonstration of these abilities and prospects. Additionally, student congresses facilitate communication and collaboration. Pharmacy students hailing from various universities may be afforded the opportunity to formulate future strategies and instigate novel initiatives through the exchange of their perspectives and ideas. Such interactions facilitate a more comprehensive understanding of the information at hand. Consequently, the student congress serves as an opportunity to cultivate skills in collaboration, leadership, and communication, in addition to scientific research. Future achievements will be made feasible by such occurrences and your contributions, youthful researchers. I hope your work at the Farmakon 2023 Student Congress will be inspiring and productive, and your future will be bright and successful," Çomaklı finished his remarks.

Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Zafer Aynalı, 13th Region Erzurum Chamber of Pharmacists President Specialist, Pharmac. Abdullah Caner Güven and Elif Beyza Özer delivered addresses on behalf of the students at the congress.
The event will continue at the Faculty of Fine Arts Performing Arts Center from October 27-29.
