Izetbegovic's biography, ideology, the works he wrote, his last meetings with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, his approach to Islam, the development process of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was established after the collapse of Yugoslavia, and what he went through during this process were discussed in the interview that started with “Our Wise Aliya İzzetbegovic Documentary.”

Making the opening speech of the conversation, Atatürk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Atilla Keskin said he is pleased to host such a program as the University and to meeten the students with Dr. Hüseyin Kansu. Noting that Aliya İzzetbegovic is a very important value, Keskin also stated that this speech is a great gain for the students.

Speaker Dr. Hüseyin Kansu noted that Aliya İzzetbegovic is an important statesman worthy of respect and emphasized that he is also a student of İzzetbegovic.

Expressing that many statesmen, poets and artists grew up in Bosnia during the Ottoman Empire, Kansu explained in detail the rise of Izetbegovic to the head of state, from the period when Bosnia was in the hands of the socialist federal Yugoslavia.

“İzetbegovic was a leader free from hatred and anger”

"Bosnia is a part of us," said Kansu. "Before Aliya Izetbegovic's death, in his sickbed when he was Prime Minister he said to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, 'I entrust Bosnia to you.'  Therefore, Bosnia is entrusted to us by both the Ottoman Empire and Aliya İzzetbegovic.”

Expressing that Izetbegovic fought a great battle in the Bosnian War, Kansu said: “Bosnia was a unitary state before the war, but it was transformed into a federative state after the Dayton Agreement." Izetbegovic was put on trials in the courts, but he never gave up. Because he had an idea and an ideology. On the third day of the war, he said: "Both Serbs and Croats will one day accept the reality of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are also our neighbors."

After the talk, Kansu visited the exhibition “Aliya İzzetbegovic with Unknown Aspects”  in the company of the participants and answered students' questions and told them about the stories of the photographs.
