"NANOTECHNOLOGY, NANOMEDICINE, AND OMICS" DISCUSSED AT ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY

"Nanotechnology, Nanomedicine, and Omics" Conference Held at Atatürk University

Atatürk University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and the Vaccine Development Application and Research Center, organized a conference titled “Nanotechnology, Nanomedicine, and Omics” to shed light on the future scientific fields.

The event, held at the Prof. Dr. Kemal Bıyıkoğlu Hall in the Cultural Center, attracted attention from both academic circles and students. In addition to Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, the symposium’s invited speakers, Prof. Dr. İsmail Öçsoy and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Basri Gülbakan, were joined by many academics and students.

In his opening speech, Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu expressed pride in the event being held in Erzurum on such an important topic. He emphasized that the fields of nanotechnology and omics offer groundbreaking developments in medicine and science, stressing the importance of attracting students' interest in these areas. "As a university, we support such events to increase young people’s interest in science and raise awareness about new generation technologies," said Hacımüftüoğlu, adding that the event would contribute to the scientific community.

Striking Presentations on the Future of Nanotechnology

The first speaker, Prof. Dr. İsmail Öçsoy, delivered a presentation titled "The Age of Nanomaterials and Nanomedicine." Prof. Dr. Öçsoy discussed the solutions nanotechnology offers in medicine and how it will transform the healthcare sector in the future, highlighting the positive effects of nanomaterials on human health. He shared the advantages of nanotechnology in cancer treatment and drug delivery systems, stating, “In future treatment methods, nanotechnology will be at the forefront, and these developments will make disease diagnosis and treatment much more effective.”

New Generation Analyses Offer New Solutions for Genetic Diseases

The second presentation was given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Basri Gülbakan on “Next-Generation Omics Analyses in Inherited Metabolic Diseases.” Gülbakan noted that the role of omics analyses in diagnosing and treating genetic diseases is increasing, and these new generation analyses allow for a better understanding of diseases at the molecular level. “Thanks to omics technology, much more specific and personalized treatment methods for diseases can be developed,” Gülbakan stated, highlighting the advantages of omics analyses in solving inherited metabolic diseases.

“We Move Forward with New Generation Technologies for the Future of Science”

In his closing remarks, Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu emphasized the importance of addressing topics that shape the future of science and bringing these developments to students' attention. He stated, “Fields like nanotechnology, nanomedicine, and omics have the potential to shape not only medicine but also the future of humanity. Reflecting on, researching, and directing our young people to these fields is a responsibility for us.” Prof. Dr. Hacımüftüoğlu expressed that the conference was a valuable event for raising students' scientific awareness.

This meaningful conference at Atatürk University provided participants with comprehensive information on the latest developments in nanotechnology and omics, while also inspiring young scientists. It was announced that such events contributing to the scientific community would continue.
