TRANSPLANTATION CONGRESS WAS HELD IN ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY

Organized by Atatürk University Transplantation Student Club (ATATX) student congress titled “Transplantation with Scientific, Legal and Religious Aspects” was held in Nenehatun Cultural Center between 29 February - 01 March.
To the opening of the congress, Atatürk University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sezai Ercişli, Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Önder Şimşek, Dean of Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine Prof.Dr. Fatih Albayrak and Atatürk University Organ Transplantation Education, Research and Application Center Manager Gürkan Öztürk, Transplantation Congress President Maide Ahsen Aydın,  more than 30 faculty members from the Faculty of Medicine, and the students from Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Law, Dentistry, Theology and Vocational School of Health, 460 participants attended.
Organ Donation Notion is not Known Enough
Specialist surgeons in the field of transplant Prof.Dr. Uluğ Eldegez, Prof. Dr. Kâmil Yalçın Polat and Prof. Dr. Bülent Aydınlı attended the congress as a speaker. In the congress it was emphasized that the vast majority of organ transplantation in Turkey  was made in the form of  living donor transport, whereas getting used to sharing everything in this fertile land Anatolian people will use their  sense of sharing in this field at the time they feel that they can save new lives.
ATATX Founding President Yiğit Serdar Şimşek stated that the notion of organ donation is not known enough by our society and so such organizations are an answer to the questions that come to mind and people are afraid to ask.
Transplantation Congress Chairman Maide Ahsen Aydın emphasized the necessity to include brain death, organ transplantation and donation issues in medical education from early periods.
At the meeting,Prof.Dr. Mustafa Ağırman from the Faculty of Theology mentioned the place of organ donation and transplantation in the Islamic religion by recalling the verse “He saves the lives of all the people who saved a life” (Surah-Maide 32).
Prof.Dr.Ahmet Nezih Kök, who teaches at the Faculty of Medicine and Law  informed the participants about the legal aspects of organ transplantation. The congress also included various conversations about the lives that changed with organ transplantation.
