Organized jointly by Atatürk University and Association of Transplantation Immunology and Genetics 1. Eastern Anatolia Regional Meeting: Transplantation Update Symposium was held in Erzurum for the first time.The symposium, which took place in the Blue Hall of the Cultural Center, was attended by  Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Fuat Gündoğdu, Mayor Of Yakutiye Dr. Mahmut Uçar, Provincial Health Director Gursel Bedir, Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality Department Of Agricultural Services Ahmet Kılıç, Dean Of Medical Faculty Prof. Dr. Fatih Albayrak, Chairman Of The Organizing Committee Assoc. Dr. Hasan Doğan, faculty deans, academics and students attended.

During the symposium that will continue throughout the day, academicians from various universities in Turkey who are experts on Transplantation explained the importance of organ transplantation and informed the guests about before and after.


394 Kidney Transplants were Carried out
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Fuat Gundoğdu stated that kidney, liver and bone marrow transplantation for patients with organ failure is one of the most successful treatment methods and one of the most important factors affecting the well-being of patients. He said that Atatürk University Medical Faculty Organ Transplant Center, which started its mission with the first kidney transplant in 2004 and the first liver transplant in 2008, has performed 394 kidney, 284 liver and more than 150 bone marrow transplants to date.
