DISTANCE EDUCATION CONTINUES AT FULL SPEED AT ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY

In line with the decision taken by the Higher Education Council (YÖK), the distance education process that started in universities continues at full speed at Atatürk University.
Atatürk University, which continues its education, which has been suspended due to coronavirus, with the distance education system, has been continuing its education and training, which started on 23 March, through synchronous virtual classroom systems.
Offered to the Use of 450 Thousand Students
In addition to formal education, Atatürk University, which provides services to the country's higher education with Open Education and Distance Education facilities, has offered the distance education basis, which is available thanks to its ten years of distance education experience, to the use of approximately 450 thousand students so that students do not lack higher education and be suffered.
Atatürk University, which uploads all the contents of the curriculum to the system quickly, continues the distance education with a 1-week break due to coronavirus.Rector Çomaklı stated that they have all the technological basis in order to progress the process effectively and efficiently, and said that all courses have been created in the learning management system and at the beginning of each academic period, regular system trainings are provided to faculty members by specialist instructors.
“We Have The Necessary Basis And Competence”
Rector Çomaklı stated that all the preliminary preparations have been made with the instructors considering the difficulties that may be faced in digital distance learning and content preparation added that “We started distance education as of 23 March at our university, which has the necessary basis and competence.Our instructors open their content and all course resources to our students through the learning management system.Since synchronous and asynchronous distance education lessons are also available in our programs, our students and academicians do not have any problems in this regard ”
“Our Academicians Come Together With Our Students in Digital  Environment”
Saying that the university is conducting distance education with two different platforms, Çomaklı gave the following information about the system:“Our live lessons are held over the Adobe Connect system.In this system, our students and academicians come together simultaneously and teach their lessons vocally and visually as in the physical environment.The courses are recorded and students are given the opportunity to repeat the related course.On the platform, there are video, audio, content sharing, discussion forum and different question types, test and homework tools and all these are used for assessment evaluations.With this method, we conducted 337 lessons synchronously with our 10 thousand students between 23-25 March.Our goal is to offer a total of 700 lessons to our students by the end of the week.We are continuing the technical follow-up with more than 70 staff working in our Digital Transformation Office, Computer Science Research and Application Center and Distance Education Center in order to make the lessons appropriately ”
