The list of ‘The World's Most Influential Scientists’ prepared by Stanford University, which has great prestige worldwide, was published in the Elsevier database as of September 2024.

While the list in question was announced in two different categories, career-long and last year, 28 scientists from Atatürk University were entitled to enter the ‘Last Year’ list of scientists and 19 scientists were entitled to enter the ‘Career-Long Impact’ list. In Turkey, 1518 researchers were included in the ‘last year’ list and 1172 scientists were included in the ‘career-long’ list.

In the list prepared with the contributions of Prof. Dr. John P. A. Ioannidis from Stanford University, scientists were classified in 22 fields of science and 174 sub-fields. In the research, percentiles were created for scientists with at least 5 articles and their scientific impact levels were determined. ICSR Lab data provided by Elsevier and the comprehensive database of Scopus formed the basis of this important study.

Rector Hacımüftüoğlu: ‘Our University has gained an important place in the world academic community’

Rector of Atatürk University Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, while evaluating this success of the university, stated that the deep-rooted scientific tradition of Atatürk University and the importance it attaches to research activities bring such achievements. Rector Hacımüftüoğlu: ‘The fact that our academic staff is among the world-class scientists is one of the most concrete indicators of our university's commitment to its vision and scientific goals. Such achievements reinforce the prestige of our university not only nationally but also internationally.’

Hacımüftüoğlu stated that he was very proud of the contributions of academics to scientific studies and emphasised that as the university administration, they will always act with a vision that supports research, innovation and knowledge production. ‘This success is the most important proof of the contribution of our scientists to the world scientific literature. Our university has achieved international standards in scientific studies and has gained an important place in the world academic community.’ Rector Hacımüftüoğlu underlined that this success is the result of the investments made in the scientific infrastructure and academic staff of Atatürk University and stated that the university will continue its research and innovation-oriented activities without slowing down in the future.
