TWO TEAMS FROM ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY SECURED A SPOT IN THE TOP FIVE AT TEKNOFEST 2024...

Teknofest 2024 Vertical Landing Rocket Competition was a resounding success for Atatürk University.

Two teams composed of students from the Faculty of Engineering at Ataturk University achieved a top-five ranking in the competition, which featured 17 teams. This achievement served as a source of pride for the university. TTURKS ROCKET Team, which was advised by Prof. Dr. Köksal Erentürk, secured the second position, while Atauni Rocket Team V, which was advised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ruhi Yeşildal, secured the fourth position. It is important to note that Atatürk University is the sole institution that can maintain two teams in the top five simultaneously.

TTURKS ROCKET TEAM: A Six-Year Success Story

The TTURKS ROCKET Team, which was established in 2018 by students of the Atatürk University Faculty of Engineering and is currently operating under the Aerospace and Defense Technologies Club, is dedicated to supporting the national technology initiative. The team, which is comprised of members from a variety of engineering disciplines, benefits from a disciplined approach and collaboration.

The team has created innovative initiatives in a variety of fields, including model rocketry, vertical landing rocket technologies, model satellites, air defense systems, and unmanned aerial vehicles, since its inception. TTURKS ROCKET Team has also succeeded in establishing itself as a team that garners international attention. They were among the finalists in the Esra Irec Rocket Engineering Competition, which was conducted in the United States state of New Mexico. They competed against teams from prestigious universities, including Boston, Yale, California, and Stanford. The projectile they developed was successfully landed with a complete mission.

A pioneer in the field of vertical landing rocket technology

The vertical landing rocket technology, one of the initiatives that TTURKS ROCKET Team is currently working on, is designed to facilitate a safe and controlled landing using a cold gas propulsion system. The objective of this technology was to identify solutions for the defense industry requirements of Turkey. The team, which was attracted to Teknofest, achieved significant success by showcasing their innovative designs in the competition supported by TÜBİTAK SAGE in Turkey. The team consisted of Muhammet Emir Akdeniz, Arda Gümrükçü, Beyza Korkmaz, Enes Gökay Nuroğlu, Abdussamet Mehlep, Muhammet Veli Sarı, Hüseyin Allale, Metehan Örs, Olkan Saraç, Ufuk Şahin, and Yağmur Yurdigül.
