ASSOCIATION OF EUROPEAN VETERINARY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS,
AT ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY FOR INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION…

Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, the rector of Atatürk University, is an active participant in the evaluation team of the Association of European Veterinary Educational Institutions (EAEVE). During the re-evaluation visit that took place from April 23-25, 2024, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was assessed in accordance with the requirements of its international accreditation. Prof. Bertil Douw (Chairman of the Netherlands) and Prof. Pierre Lekeux was approved. Prof. Dr. Yavuz Selim Sağlam, dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Armağan Hayırlı, EAEVE liaison officer, and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sözbilir were also in attendance at the reception.

"I am certain that our Faculty of Veterinary Medicine will obtain international accreditation," said Rector Çomaklı.

In his address, Çomaklı asserted that Atatürk University's scientific research and high-quality education contribute significantly to the progress of both the nation and the region. "Our university, which closely monitors global and domestic developments, plays a crucial role in shaping a promising future with its distinguished academic and administrative staff as well as its highly qualified students," adding that Atatürk University establishes its objectives in accordance with international benchmarks and devises strategies to attain them. "The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at our university continues to provide animal health services, research, and education with great success. As the university administration, we shall maintain the provision of comprehensive support to the faculty, consistent with our past practices. We have devoted considerable effort to securing international accreditation for our Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, which is already accredited at the national level by VEDEK. I wholeheartedly believe that we will achieve this success together with all my colleagues," he said.

Dean Sağlam stated, "Our Faculty Continues to Serve Animal Health Delightfully."

In addition to expressing their delight at having the EAEVE evaluation team visit in Erzurum, the dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dr. Yavuz Selim Sağlam issued the following statement: "As you are all aware, the EAEVE team conducted its initial comprehensive visit to our faculty from November 15th to the 19th, 2021. This week, he is conducting a "revisit" to our faculty. Extensive efforts have been made to rectify the numerous shortcomings identified in the initial visit report. Our work was comprehensively detailed in the Revisit Self-Assessment Report that we compiled. Our Faculty of Veterinary Medicine continues to provide education, research, and animal health services with great success. We derived encouragement from the favorable remarks and compliments recorded in the initial visit report. Significant enhancements were implemented in response to the visiting team's recommendations and critiques, with the aim of augmenting the students' practical education experience.

Dean Sağlam asserted that the modifications and enhancements implemented subsequent to the initial visit substantially bolstered the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine's adherence to EAEVE standards. Furthermore, they expressed confidence that these advancements would be regarded favorably in relation to accreditation standing: "We express our delight in welcoming Professor Pierre Lekeux and Dr. Bertil Douw back to our esteemed university and faculty. We extend our gratitude for their gracious cooperation and assistance, and extend our sincere appreciation to Rector Çomaklı for his ceaseless support. I would like to express my gratitude to Çomaklı and our entire faculty family," he indicated.

The evaluation team from the Association of European Veterinary Educational Institutions (EAEVE) departed the city subsequent to their visit. They provided a report detailing their observations of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine evaluation, which included in-person discussions with academicians and students, as well as an on-site examination of applied courses.
