Erzurum Metropolitan Mayor Mehmet Sekmen and Atatürk University Rector. Prof.Dr. Ömer Çomaklı visited several units serving within the university.
The transformation continues at full speed at Atatürk University, which determines the road map within the framework of the New Generation University vision and realizes many projects in this direction.Rector Çomaklı accompanied the Mayor of Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality Mehmet Sekmen, who visited Atatürk University to examine the works carried out within the scope of this transformation and to get detailed information.
Rector Çomaklı gave information about the studies to Mayor Sekmen, who visited the milk and bread factories of the Faculty of Agriculture, Food Engineering laboratories, Food and Livestock Application and Research Center (GHUAM), and the sheep and cattle centers.
Mayor Sekmen: “Scientific Touch is Very Important for Efficiency”
The first stop of the committee was Faculty of Agriculture, Food Engineering.Rector Çomaklı, who shared the knowledge that they built a modern laboratory in which students could take an active role in addition to the scientific and academic studies to be done, expressed that they put an important infrastructure system into service for research and development projects.
Mayor Sekmen, who also examined the milk factory and bread factory affiliated to the Food and Livestock Application and Research Center (GHUAM), said that these factories, which are a modern facility, have been scientifically producing for the industry.Emphasizing that universities are working towards these and similar fields that directly contact the public, Mayor Mehmet Sekmen stated that scientific touch is essential in terms of efficiency.
Rector Çomaklı: “Our Studies for the Development of Our Region Continue”
Rector Çomaklı, who stated that the milk factory served as a full-fledged facility, told that producing various dairy products ranging from yoghurt to cheese, buttermilk to raw milk, the factory also has a daily processing capacity of 5 tons of milk.Rector Çomaklı stated that there are equipments that enable the production of bread in the bread factory easily and added the factory produces 10 thousand rolls per day, and also shared information about the sheep and cattle centers.Rector Çomaklı pointed out that 2 dairy barns, a young animal barn, a fattening and a calf barn serve, and said that they are working with the automatic milking system, and the system is capable of milking 24 animals at the same time.
Mayor Sekmen stated  that  he follows the works of Atatürk University, which is one of the biggest partners in the city, and also added that they are in constant communication with this distinguished institution that fulfills an important mission with its works that contribute to the development of the city and the region.
Pointing out that these units they have visited are indispensable areas for Erzurum, Sekmen added that agriculture and animal husbandry are one of the biggest factors not only for the development of the city but also for the development of the region, and  it is pleasing that important impacts have been realized and modern facilities have been brought together with scientists and thanked Rector Çomaklı for his hospitality.
