Palandöken Mayor Muhammet Sunar visited Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, who was recently appointed as the Rector of Atatürk University, in his office and conveyed his congratulations for his new duty.

Sunar, who started his speech by expressing his satisfaction that Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu has become the head of a well-established institution such as Atatürk University: ‘Atatürk University is one of the most important values of Erzurum not only in terms of education and science, but also in social and cultural terms. For this reason, your appointment is a great gain for the city. As Palandöken Municipality, we will be proud to be with our university in this important process. We aim to contribute to the development of our city and our university with joint projects.’

Rector Hacımüftüoğlu: ‘We aim to set an example with our contributions to our city and region’

Rector Hacımüftüoğlu expressed his satisfaction with the kind visit of President Sunar and shared his views on the future vision of the university. Hacımüftüoğlu: ‘As Atatürk University, we aim to be an example not only with our academic achievements but also with the contributions we provide to our city and region. At this point, it is of great importance for us to cooperate with local governments. I believe that with the support of Palandöken Municipality, we can move forward together in projects for both our students and the people of Erzurum.’

In the continuation of the meeting, the details of the cooperation to be established between the university and the municipality were discussed. During the visit, it was emphasised that joint studies can be carried out in many areas from education to sports, from social responsibility projects to cultural activities, and it was emphasised that they will work in cooperation in order to facilitate the adaptation process of students to the city and to strengthen the bond between the university and the city.

At the end of the visit, Mayor Sunar wished Rector Hacımüftüoğlu success and said: ‘We will always support our university in projects that will contribute to our city and our country. It is our greatest desire to work together as a university and local administration in this beautiful city.’ Rector Hacımüftüoğlu stated that all kinds of support is valuable for the university in this process: ‘We will achieve much better things together’.

The visit ended with mutual goodwill and wishes for cooperation.
