COOPERATION PROTOCOL FOR THE LIVESTOCK SECTOR AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE REGION SIGNED

Joint Studies will be conducted with the General Directorate of Meat and Dairy Institution

Adopting the mission of service to society and inter-institutional cooperation -one of the main elements of the New Generation University Design and Transformation Project- Atatürk University continues to strengthen its inter-institutional cooperation with the new protocols signed.

In this context, the cooperation protocol regarding the execution of the cooperation processes within the scope of the article "General Principles and Obligations of the Parties" of the cooperation protocol signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Council of Higher Education was signed between Atatürk University and the General Directorate of Meat and Dairy Institution.

Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, General Director of Meat and Dairy Institution Osman Uzun, Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof. Dr. Yavuz Selim Sağlam, Deputy General Director of Meat and Dairy Institution, Dr. Cemal Çalık and Erzurum Meat and Milk Institution Director Dr. İsmail Atasever attended the signing ceremony, which was hosted by Atatürk University.

With the protocol signed by Rector Çomaklı and General Director Osman Uzun, cooperation for the common use of the facilities and laboratory infrastructure of the combines within the Meat and Dairy Institution would be provided in order to maximize the contributions to the livestock sector and industrial development of the region.

Collaboration will be made in a number of fields

Articles of the protocol include the use of the laboratories and information resources of the University and the Directorate, training of the personnel, students or external participants if requested, developing programs and projects that will ensure the active participation of universities, institutes and industrial organizations in research and technology development activities.

The parties have come to a mutual agreement which makes sure that two-year degree, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students could benefit from the facilities and laboratories of the institution's combinations in order to take their courses, vocational training and to be engaged in research subjects and do their internships, and that the R&D projects, studies and theses to be jointly developed within the framework of the cooperation could be published in the academic Journal of the Meat and Dairy Institution, and that at least one of the congresses, symposiums or workshops could be organized over the course of the cooperation.

“Added Value Will Be Provided in Industrial Meat and Dairy Production”

Stating that Atatürk University has provided the necessary support to the farmers in Erzurum and in the region, who are heavily engaged in bovine and ovine breeding and in the food products obtained from them, Rector Çomaklı noted that with the signed protocol, analyzes and studies will be carried out in areas that will provide added value in the production of industrial meat and dairy products.

Çomaklı laid stress on the fact that Faculties of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture and the Animal Hospital discharge an important responsibility for production, agricultural development and animal health in the region, wishing that the signed protocol would culminate in good results for both parties.

Mentioning that Atatürk University is one of Turkey's leading educational institutions in agriculture and animal husbandry, as in many fields, with its experience and knowledge, General Manager of Meat and Dairy Institution Osman Uzun said that they want to benefit from the R&D infrastructure of the university with the protocol. Expressing that both institutions will find a middle ground and work in harmony, Uzun thanked Rector Çomaklı for his hospitality.
