A GLOBAL SCIENCE MOVE FROM ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY: AN ACADEMIC MEETING IN BOSTON

Atatürk University Establishes a Scientific Partnership with Universities in the United States

An important academic meeting was held at the Boston University Photonics Center. The meeting was sponsored by a distinguished delegation, including numerous academicians and doctoral students from Harvard University, MIT, and Boston University, and was attended by over 100 participants. The delegation was led by Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu.

Introduction of the new scholarship and academic cooperation program implemented by Atatürk University was the primary focus of the event. The program's objective is to offer scholarship support to students who wish to pursue a doctorate in the United States in the fields of engineering, health sciences, and social sciences. Additionally, it aims to facilitate the participation of researchers in scientific education and academic exchange programs in the United States for a minimum of three months.

Investing in the Development of Future Scientists

In addition to receiving educational support, students will have the opportunity to establish direct relationships with universities, faculties, and research laboratories throughout the United States within the programs' scope. In this context, US academicians who attended the meeting expressed their willingness to accommodate Turkish researchers in their departments or laboratories. The meeting, which was conducted in a combined format, widened the scope of scientific collaboration by allowing states other than Boston to participate.

Rector Hacımüftüoğlu: "Our purpose is to provide our students with international opportunities."

During the opening of the meeting, Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu underscored the university's internationalization vision, stating, "Our gathering here today is not merely an opportunity to sign a protocol; this meeting is a testament to our conviction in the universality of knowledge production, the absence of scientific boundaries, and the application of common sense." Our most fervent aspiration is to provide our youth with international opportunities and to contribute to the global advancement of our scientists' knowledge and experience. We will ensure the scientific power of our country and Atatürk University by taking the necessary steps in collaboration with prominent institutions in the field, such as Boston University.

Support from Boston University in its entirety

The Boston University Photonics Center officials expressed their enthusiasm for this collaboration and emphasized the extensive array of collaboration opportunities that Turkish researchers can contribute, particularly in the fields of neurophotonics, imaging systems, biosensors, and metamaterial research. It was asserted that the quality of education and scientific productivity will be significantly enhanced by the establishment of direct connections between students and faculty members.

 A Gateway to Uncharted Territory

The event, which heightened engagement with the Q&A segment at the conclusion of the meeting, once again illustrated the parties' commitment to implementing tangible steps toward collaboration. Participants expressed that the scientific relationship between Turkey and the United States will be fortified as a result of this initiative by Atatürk University.

This exemplary initiative by Atatürk University, which is designed with the objective of internationalization and supports future scientists, has shown that a bridge that commences in Boston will inspire similar collaborations in numerous other countries.
