Atatürk University Women's and Men's Ice Hockey and Curling Teams returned from the Turkish Championships with first prize.

Atatürk University continues to work on cultural, sports and artistic activities as well as academic and scientific studies. As the result of this, it gets in return for its investments with the achievements accomplished. In this context, Atatürk University Women's and Men's Teams came in first in the UNILIG Inter-University Curling and Ice Hockey Turkey Championship, hosted by Atatürk University on 24-27 February 2022, with the partnership of Erzurum Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports.

Atatürk University blew like the wind in the events attended by Federation President Prof. Dr. Mehmet Günay and the federation officials, as well as Atatürk University Faculty of Sports Sciences dean and faculty members, Health Culture and Sports Department officials, representatives of Erzurum Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports and many sports fans.

The Women's and Men's Sports Teams  came in first in the championship outperforming their rivals in the races held in Erzurum Curling Arena. In addition, they finished the championship with a gold medal, going up to the first podium as a result of the achievements they accomplished in another tournament held in Erzurum.The trophies of both championships were presented to the teams by the President of the Turkish University Sports Federation, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Günay.

Rector Çomaklı: “We are happy to see our university come to the fore with its achievements”

Rector Çomaklı emphasized that while planning the future of the university, they continue to provide all kinds of support to sports, artistic and cultural activities. He made the following remarks: “ Thanks to the supports we have provided, our students, who are active in academic life as well as cultural and sports fields, are better educated and increase the achievement quotient of universities. Our university with 65 years of experience, aiming to rank among the top 5 universities in Turkey, makes us proud and happy because it comes to the fore with its achievements in every field. Iincreasing the brand value and the prestige of our university in the national and international arena, these achievements also attract students who are interested in sports to our university. With these thoughts, I sincerely congratulate our students who have put Atatürk University's name on the summit, their estimable families, coaches and teachers who have not refrained to support them, and I would like to express my gratitude on behalf of myself and our university.
