ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY CAMPUS RECEIVES AN EXCELLENT RATING FROM THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, URBANIZATION, AND CLIMATE CHANGE
Atatürk University Environmental Problems Application and Research Centre (ÇSUAM) has reached the end of its ongoing work within the scope of Zero Waste Integration Process.
Hazardous (chemical-dangerous/medical-pathological wastes, waste medicines, waste electrical and electronic equipment, vegetable waste oils, mineral waste oils, waste accumulators, waste batteries, waste cartridges and toners) and non-hazardous (paper-cardboard, plastic, glass, metal wastes and organic, The Environmental Problems Application and Research Centre, which carries out the management of many wastes (biodegradable wastes) in a sustainable manner and has largely completed the infrastructure works created for both internal and external management of recyclable wastes, continues its activities uninterruptedly.
In this context; The delegation of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change and the Turkish Environment Agency (TUÇA) visited Atatürk University within the scope of the project carried out in order to examine the works carried out and planned to be carried out in Atatürk University, which is shown among 7 universities as an example of good practice in Turkey in general, to evaluate the practices that will set an example for other universities and to determine the necessary support for the completion of the infrastructure, taking into account the waste management policies.
The delegation met with Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı and was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Zeynep Ceylan, Director of the Environmental Problems Application and Research Centre and Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Coordinator (KTAYK).
"We Inform Our Students About Environmental Problems and Zero Waste"
Rector Çomaklı, who exchanged views on environmental problems and zero waste with his guests, stated that Atatürk University has a campus worthy of its ancient past and stated that they are doing their best to keep the campus tidy and clean.
With an area of 34 million square metres, Atatürk University campus is one of the largest campuses in Turkey, all of which are green areas, Rector Çomaklı said that it is not easy to keep such a large area clean and tidy, and that the student body of 60 thousand people is informed about environmental problems, clean use of the campus and zero waste.
Prof. Dr. Çomaklı thanked his guests for their visit and emphasised that the work will continue in order to carry out the integration process of the uniquely beautiful university campus into zero waste in a sustainable format.
