NEW HORIZONS SYMPOSIUM IN CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY HELD AT ATATURK UNIVERSITY

The inaugural New Horizons Symposium Series in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry was held at Atatürk University, which was a significant event. On October 25, 2024, the symposium was conducted at the Cultural Center Prof. Dr. Kemal Bıyıkoğlu Hall of the university. The program was attended by academicians, students, and invitees who are employed in the health sector, as well as Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu.

The Health Sciences University, Giresun University, and Karadeniz Technical University collaborated to coordinate the event, which was hosted by Atatürk University. Prof. Dr. Onur Burak Dursun, Trabzon Faculty of Medicine, Faculty Member of the Health Sciences University, Symposium, emphasized the current challenges and potential solutions in child and adolescent psychiatry during his inaugural address. Dursun apprised the attendees of the symposium's significance and underscored the significance of interdisciplinary research in the field.

Assoc. Prof. Esen Yıldırım Demirdöğen, a faculty member of the Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine, addressed the audience as the Symposium President, emphasizing that the event was designed to introduce novel research and perspectives in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry. Demirdöğen asserted that the symposium's subjects will facilitate the expansion of experts' expertise in this domain.

According to Rector Hacımüftüoğlu, the symposium will establish the foundation for the advancement of novel research and methodologies.

As the Honorary President of the Symposium, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu, Rector of Atatürk University, expressed his immense satisfaction at the opportunity to host such a significant event, as a university. "This symposium will not only address the current issues in child and adolescent psychiatry, but it will also lay the groundwork for the development of new research and methods in this field," Hacımüftüoğlu stated. He also underscored that the event will be conducted from an interdisciplinary perspective.

"The future of our society is contingent upon the healthy development of children and adolescents." Therefore, any research and study that is conducted in this field is of immense value to me," continued Rector Hacımüftüoğlu. He also expressed his conviction that the symposium's participants will receive substantial benefits as a result of the diverse perspectives and innovative approaches that will be presented. Hacımüftüoğlu emphasized that the symposium convened in this regard will provide the participants with new perspectives and concluded his speech by expressing gratitude to all those who contributed. He emphasized that the ever-changing dynamics of medical and health sciences are better understood as a result of such events.

Expert lecturers on a variety of subjects were also featured at the symposium: Dr. Dilara Betül Aslan from Trabzon Faculty of Medicine, Health Sciences University, “Astronomy and Autism”, Spec. Dr. Mehmet Ali Donbaloğlu from Erzurum City Hospital, “New Trends in Outcome Measures in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry”, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Member Cansu Çobanoğlu Osmanlı “Technology Addiction in the World: A Global Perspective”, Dr. Lecturer Esra Hoşoğlu from Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine “Technology-Based Interventions in Addiction Treatment”, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sedat Altuğ from Demiroğlu Bilim University  “The Place of Food Supplements in Neurodevelopmental Disorders: What is the Optimal Dose?”

The symposium not only informed the participants about the current issues and potential solutions in the field, but also facilitated the development of new research and collaborations. It is anticipated that these events will enhance the field's development by expanding the body of knowledge in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry.
