SECOND FROM NATURE TO TABLE SCIENCE PROJECT WILL BE HELD AT ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY IN SEPTEMBER

Within the scope of the MSCA and Citizens Programme of Horizon Europe Projects, every year on the last Friday of September in the European Union and all of the Acceding Countries, events are organised to bring together researchers and other members of the society and to encourage young people to science.

In this event called Researchers' Night, activities, applied experiments, scientific demonstrations, discussion sessions and competitions are organised with the aim of encouraging young people to the profession of research, breaking prejudice against scientists and introducing researchers as "one of us".

In this context, the second of the project activities titled 'Science from Nature to your Table' with the acronym Sci-NURTURE, which is coordinated by Atatürk University, carried out by the Project Development and Coordination Office and consists of two stages, will be held on 29-30 September 2023. In the first of these stages, schools were visited by scientists and interviews, presentations and various experiments were carried out in different schools in the centre and districts of Erzurum. A total of 240 schools were visited in Erzurum in 2022 and 2023.

In the second step of the project, which is the European Researchers' Night event, which will take place at the same time with the whole of Europe, the main events that were successfully held last year will be held on 29-30 September 2023 on the Atatürk University campus this year.

Within the scope of these activities, the process of plant and animal origin foods until they reach the table, experiments, etc. will be conveyed to students in a fun way with scientific activities. With the event, researchers and society will come together and awareness will be raised about the benefits of research and innovation in daily life. Many activities, presentations and screenings, including kitchen workshops such as plant breeding, animal breeding, pasta and pizza making, will be open to the public for two days.

Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı stated that the project activities titled 'Science from Nature to Table' were enthusiastically held at Atatürk University last year and invited all Erzurum people and especially children to this great organisation where scientists will come together with the society.
