CHILDREN DISCOVER ATATÜRK UNIVERSITY WITH SCIENCE FROM NATURE TO TABLE PROJECT

Within the scope of the European Union Framework Programmes, students from different schools visited Atatürk University's research centers and different science points with the preliminary activities carried out in the Horizon Europe "Science from Nature to Your Table" project coordinated by Atatürk University Project Support and Coordination Office and carried out by Prof. Dr. Selda Örs.

In the trips organized before the main event of the European Researcher's Night, which will be celebrated at Atatürk University Campus on 29-30 September 2023 this year, in line with the scientific leadership pioneered by Atatürk University in the region, especially young children were informed with entertaining and instructive activities about the accessibility of science and the fact that science can be done anywhere and in every opportunity.

Students are provided to meet with science on the occasion of excursions

For this purpose, in cooperation with Erzurum Directorate of National Education, primary and secondary school students from different schools in Erzurum were introduced to Atatürk University's academic competence and visionary formations that open doors to different fields of interest and science.

During the visits to the Ice Museum, Biodiversity Museum, Aquaculture Trout Facilities, Eastern Anatolia Observatory, (DAG) Food and Livestock Directorate units and the Inventor Park at Erzurum Technical University, which are the fruit of the steps taken by Atatürk University to become a New Generation University, the students, who are the most fundamental point of investment in the future, meet with science and have fun at the same time, which is instrumental in changing the misperception that science is a boring subject.

The event will be held on 29-30 September 2023 at the same time with Europe

Prof. Dr. Ertan Yıldırım and Prof. Dr. Nurinisa Esenbuğa, who took part in the organisation of the activities in the project, which will be carried out for two years in cooperation with the European Union and Atatürk University, were accompanied by Atatürk University Project Office Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Yıldırım.

Prof. Dr. Serkan Yıldırım thanked Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Çomaklı for his support. Emphasising that scientists will participate in the Researchers' Night, which will be celebrated at the same time with all of Europe on 29-30 September 2023 on the Atatürk University campus, to which all Erzurum people are invited, Yıldırım stated that the scientific facts behind the studies and the events in our daily lives will be revealed from nature to the table.
